The Best Roundwound Bass Strings Available
After discovering these Rotosound Roundwound Swing Bass strings over 40 years ago they have been my go to strings for my bass guitars. Unless you want the dull thud of a flatwound string (which has it's place) these are a must. They make any bass guitar sound infinitely better.

Good enough for John Entwistle good enough for me
Rotosound 66 swing bass stringsI have used many different strings over the years but always come back to Rotosound. For me these strings add to the build up of tone that I want. They produce too zing clarity while protecting the fundamentals of the bass sound. The lifetime of these strings are brilliant. The way the strings are tapered at the ends really help hold them in place and tune. See photo. If you want to hear how rotosound strings sound especially on a pbass listen to Live at Leads by The Who. Or Bruce Foxton from The Jam on albums All mod cons and onwards onto the The gift.

Great balanced tone, but they do lose brightness
I have been playing bass for over 20 years, and tried many different strings. The Rotosound Swing Bass 66 strings provide an even, balanced tone which suits lots of different playing styles. They have a nice deep low end, but not as thumpy as flats. A punchy mid range, and a little top end bite without being overly zingy. However, they do tend do lose their brightness quicker than other strings, and they have a rougher texture which some say causes damage to frets, but this is not something I have experienced yet. They also seem to be slightly lower tension than some of the other roundwounds I have used previously, so you may need to give your truss rod a tweak when installing them for the first time.Overall, they are now my go-to string, and I would recommend giving them a try.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
For me, this is the stringset I keep coming back to. It has it all, the balance, the feel and most importantly the sound. They do last a very long time - there are coated strings out there which will last a lot longer. - They are a lot more money, and I have dubious reviews of some of them - so I keep using these.Dunlop do a very close alternative - but I find not as bright. Long and the short of it is:These strings are bright, and full sounding. Sets are consistent, and the quality is 100%. If you're into dull, thuddy bass sounds - a set of flats is probably what you want. If you want to cut through - these are the strings for you!Yes stainless steel strings will wear your frets down. Yes they are tough on the fingers. I've used them on the same bass since 1991 and it still has the original frets..... and I still have my original fingers! If you are looking to run in non-standard tuning, e.g. e flat, drop D etc. - check out their other sets for drop tuning. The same idea, but tailored for that purpose. If it aint' broke, don't fix it!

My Go to Roundwounds
Perfect tone for me, lovely feel - they are very bright and cutting. They do take a day or so to break in but once they do they will give you tone for months. Love the red silk at the tuner ends adds a nice vintage look to my Jazz Bass. Awesome!
