These downlights are great value for money. They look very smart when installed and are actually very easy to install. The plastic terminal block housing is a little flimsy but once installed the whole item is fairly robust. The springs have a good strength to them and hold the fixture firmly in place against the ceiling. These also happily accommodate the Philips GU10 LED bulbs.As I'm sure you are aware, in the event of a fire, the downlight hole is like a gateway that allows fire to spread through your house, normally directly to wooden ceiling joists. Fire rated downlights seal off the hole and slow down the spread of fire.Pros- Good value for money- Take Philips GU10 Bulbs- Reasonable construction overall- Strong springsCons- Plastic terminal cover a little flimsy

Nice set of lights. Good build quality. Have then for some time now and all work very well. They are easy to mount and connecting wires to them takes only seconds. Once connected wires cover can be screwed back in place to offer extra protection. I would go back for these ones in case of putting recessed lights in another room.

I put four of these in my new study area - replacing a pendant lamp - they look AWESOME!The black chrome effect is really nice, and for the money, I'm very impressed with the build quality. I used a hole saw for my drill of the recommended size and as they went into loft space they were very easy to fit. You need to clear away insulation to the required distance of course, even if you use LED spots as I have.As always with electrical items though, you need to get them professionally fitted if you're not qualified yourself. Well worth the effort.

These downlight holders were exactly as described. I was replacing existing ones with these and they were very easy to wire in and are doing the job very well.Four stars instead of five because: slightly tight and fiddly to fit the bulbs in - I am using their own brand; chrome finish is not particularly brilliant, examined up close before fitting they do look like a 'value' option - the wiring box is clearly cheap and a bit flimsy - but once they are fitted who can tell? Not my wife at any rate who is delighted with them.In terms of value for money 6 stars out of five. At least as good as several other options I looked at in various shops which were all at least 2 - 3 times the price I paid here.

These are excellent downlights, well made and excellent value for the price.Like others, I used these to replace 12V lamps by removing the transformers which were faulty anyway, I used very bright 7W LEDs (see one of my previous reviews)They are very easy to fit; I wired a length of cable to each before fitting so it was a straightforward fitting to the mains junction box.Another reviewer sais that the connector block came off easily; not in my experience, it was a bit fiddly to get it on properly but once on, it stuck there - I had to remove one of my lights a few times to fit round a joist and the connecter remained firmly attached.

Great quality and look the part

Good price, quick delivery and reasonable quality, but did not like the bevelled recess that makes the [correct size] bulb stand proud, so did not use. see picture.

Looks good, easy to fit and works well!
