STOVAX 13mm Black Rope Stove Door Seal Kit with Glue for STOCKTON MK 2

What an idiot I've been! I used any old cheap stove rope for years thinking "You've seen one, you've seen them all", well that's all finished with. This stove rope is light-years ahead of the cheap stuff to fit, and it has already lasted as long as the other ropes I was using and shows no sign of needing replacement. The Stovax rope looks like it might last 3 times longer than the cheap stuff.

Suggested by our chimney sweep to fill in gaps round base front of our metal hearth to reduce airflow aside our open fire as roaring too fast using more logs/coal than necessary. Has worked reasonably well.

Certainly worth paying for the branded product so far. Having used cheaper alternatives in the past I thought I would splash out! A quick look on YouTube to see how to fit, hardest job was removing the old rope and glue. Easy to fit. Previous cheaper ropes only last me a year or two at most, so time will tell if it was money well spent.

We have a Stovax Stockton MK2 stove which uses 13mm rope, an unusual size.Every now and again 12-18 months say we need to replace the door rope and have used various third party kits with mixed success.In these TP kits, often the adhesive is very watery and difficult to use or doesn't fix the rope adequately In the channel inside the door. The rope itself may be weak or prone to distortion IE flatten down over time too. The supplied rope in alternative kits may not be the right size ie not 13mm.This Genuine Stivwx Kit is markedly more expensive than these third party options. However it is by the best kit in terms of application and long term benefit. The glue is easy to apply, the rope sticks and then stays in place. The rope is also a far higher quality compared to non Stovax ropes meaning that over time it does not flatten so much as the cheap rope in the third party kits. Therefore the door seal lasts longer meaning the control of air going into the stove is maintained for longer too before a new kit is required.Recommended.

This kit comes with loads of adhesive, I was left with about a third of a bottle after a generous application all around the door seal. The rope also has a tighter braid on the outside of the regular rope which seems to provide a much better seal and generally looks more professional. Finally it comes with a strip of tape that lets you finish off the cut ends and then apply a loop around both ends to seal the two ends together.After reading some of the reviews of the cheaper alternatives I'm really happy I spent more on this kit to get everything I needed and better quality rope. Looking at the flames in the stove now they are dancing around showing the telltale signs that the airwash is working perfectly.

The rope arrived as advertised, in manufacturer's own packaging. It fitted well, but with only just enough rope for the job - but then no waste!! Be careful in measuring before cutting. The doors now seal much better, and I burn less fuel.

Fitted this to a 6+ year old Stovax Stockton 8 MK2. I wanted Stovax rope as the shape of it for my woodburner is oval rather than conventional round. The rope in the pack is exactly the same as the original stuff.I had previously tried to "fix" the original rope a couple of times with woodburner glue but it never really worked for too long before the rope started to come away.To their credit, they provide plenty of glue in the pack - so you don't have to worry about using it sparingly.So far, after a good few months in, the rope is rock solid and looks identical to when the burner was new.So very pleased.
