Heavy to handle
Strimmer works great but I find it heavy compared to previous makes.

Great addition to garden equipment.
Ordered this for my partner and she loves it. She struggles with bigger petrol machines and this unit is lightweight, easy to use and easy to store. Good price, cuts the edges with ease and very easy to handle.

Does the job but not user-friendly
At the most basic level, this Flymo Contour 500E strimmer did its job and helped me cut down the area of overgrown lawn I was worrying about. So that's good. However, I had a struggle putting it together (the instructions were very poor) and I found it really unwieldy & awkward to use. The power lever requires a pretty strong grip to keep it squeezed. The product comes in a conveniently compact box for delivery, but the down side of that is that you have to assemble the bits. There are instruction diagrams and (very limited) text descriptions, but there are errors in some of the explanations, for example the numbers identifying components in the text don't match the numbers on the diagrams. I'm moderately capable with this kind of thing, but it took me 15 minutes to put everything together and I'm still not confident that I fitted the strimming cord properly. The product came with a cassette of strimming cord in place in the machine, which is good, but I'm unsure whether it is fitted right, as the diagrams for that are really unclear. But it cut the grass and I still have both my eyes and all my digits, so I guess it's OK.Having said that, my arms really ache after using the strimmer for 20 minutes or so. It isn't really heavy, but it doesn't feel well balanced and it takes a real effort to keep the power lever pressed while manoeuvring the machine. I'm a middle aged man of average strength and it seemed like a really hard squeeze was required to keep the handle pressed to keep the motor running. So for me or my stronger, fitter friends this is ok to use, but I would not be recommending it to anyone who doesn't have reasonably strong arms and a good grip!Overall, it does the job but could be more user friendly and needs a better set of assembly instructions.

Much better piece of kit than I expected, worth every penny
I've always owned petrol strimmers but eco concerns, it's such a pain to go get petrol and mix in oil plus trying to start a petrol engine after it's sat for 2 months can be a pain.I've been staring at 2ft high grass for 2 months since I gave my petrol strimmer to a family member and finally decided to sort out a new strimmer and the grass. Box arrived, took me about 10 mins to assemble the machine, plugged in and got cracking. I only have about 150 sq/mtrs of garden nothing huge and the machine ripped through it in about 25 mins. I have tallk grass, sprouty clumps and even those large thistle type weeds, the machine didn't stop ripping them up, even when I went right along the concrete kick boards of the fencing it stil kept feeding line and kept going. I also bought 4 reels of line as others said it chews up line very quickly but I hardly used any at all so I've got a ton of spare line reels, better than not having any.It is a heavy machine, you're going to need to have string shoulders and back to keep it going. I will concur that as others have said, holding the safety catch and trigger in are hard work but it's obvious that's by design, the second you so much as lift your hand off the safety/trigger the machine instantly stops, to be honest I'd much rather have an aching hand for an hour after the work than a trip to the A&E 'cos it wouldn't stop in time! The upper handle feels a little filmsy and maybe the addition of a strap hook would be a good idea for those who might find the weight a bit much, but minor issues I can live with.Overall very pleased with it and would recommend it to others.

Great for a complete beginner!
First time ever using a strimmer and I found it really easy to use and to put together, the only bad thing I would say is I struggled to hold the handle down to keep it on the entire time I was strimming (I have weak arms) so it was turning off constantly but I think most people wouldn’t have that issue if they were a bit stronger, it would just be nice to have something to lock it on, my arms did ache a bit after from using it I think I’ll try and buy some sort of strap to carry a bit of the weight but other than that it was great, I loved not having to mess around with the line and it cut through some very very long and thick weeds!

Strong and robust
Personally I found the strimmer quite heavy, had to make a makeshift strap to take some of the weight...you also have to hold both trigger and button down as it doesnt lock for ease. That said, its perfomance is very very good and i got great results.
