Hope Filled
If you happen to struggle with mental health issues, this book is a must read!! If you happen to be a Christian who feels guilty or ashamed because of those struggles, this book is a must read! Aaron’s willingness to be vulnerable about a topic some are too ashamed to address is refreshing. Jesus, hope, & understanding fill the pages. I highly recommend!!

A great guideline and honest perspetive
I've read many books on this topic due to my own experiences with chronic illness, and this book stands out. It is not afraid to remind the reader that we all go through life in ways we can say..." me too." What I appreciate most is how easily I could relate to it. It made me feel like I'm not alone, which is so important with this topic. The book simplifies anxiety and offers new perspectives for both caregivers and those struggling with a depressive disorder, not just chronic illness. We all try to support each other, especially in the church, but sometimes we need extra help with challenging topics. It can be delicate, in my experience, to just lean into this notion. This book can serve as a valuable reference guide in such situations. I highly recommend it. This would be a great way to invite Jesus into your struggle.

Easy read, beautiful insights, worth your time!
Aaron Hoover’s well written book is full of vulnerability and balanced with a winsome tone that moves the mental illness conversation forward in the church and beyond. You will likely relate to what he shares or at the very least be better equipped to walk with those you love through this real and weighty battle. His thoughts are biblically founded and saturated with compassion. It’s a great resource to point others toward who deal with anxiety and depression. God has much to say about it and Aaron Hoover does a beautiful job representing it!

Informative and honest
As someone who struggles on a daily basis with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, etc., I found this book to be extremely insightful and encouraging. I feel “seen” and freed from feeling like I am not doing enough, or that I can just faith away my anxiety. Really great book and couldn’t recommend it enough for people struggling with mental health issues or even for people who know someone who is struggling in those areas.

Biblical and Practical - Awesome Book!
This book is so necessary and needed in our world now, as the stigma with mental health continues. Aaron Hoover does an awesome job of sharing his struggle with depression and how he continues to work through it - using biblical principles and medical treatment. There were so many aha moments in this book packed with wisdom, but my favorite was, "Not making a decision about treatment is making a decision. You're deciding to continue living the way you currently are, which can be as bad, if not worse, than trying medicine and failing. Every medication has side effects, but nothing has worse side effects than doing nothing at all." (pg. 113) AMEN! If you or anyone you know struggles with a mental illness, this book is a must! Thank you, Aaron!

Honest but Not What I Was Hoping for
The author is honest and vulnerable about his struggle with mental health. I appreciate that he's clear that anxiety and depression are not a result of lack of faith, which is a harmful belief that can show up in certain circles. That said, I found some of the content repetitive. The book focuses so much on deconstructing negative beliefs about mental illness that it doesn't move too deeply into what can bring strength and spiritual orientation even in the pain of it. I also thought the questions at the end of each chapter could have been formulated better to lead to more in depth reflection. Overall, I'm glad this book exists and pray it finds people who can use its message.
