Flawed product, items missing from pack
Like some other reviewers, I didn't find these useable at all. The "wings" and support frame beyond the barrel are far too fragile. That's if you get them to work, which you probably won't do. You'll need at least 45mm of screw thread into these so the screw end catches the frame right at the end and begins to pull it as you tighten. That means if you're screwing 15mm wood to a wall with these, you'll need 60mm screws (45mm + 15mm = 60mm). If you actually manage to get one of these to work, as you tighten the screw much beyond "no tightness at all" to see if you can get things nice and tight, you'll hear a crunching sound as the wings are ripped off the back inside the cavity wall. Pulling the wings forward is the mechanism by which the barrel expands too (it doesn't expand just because you put a screw into it like most wall plugs do). That means there's no support from the wings as you've snapped them off, and no support from the barrel, so they just don't provide any fixing strength or security. Now you have to get them out of the wall. I just snipped the front flange off with a pair of side cutters all the way round, and pushed them into the cavity so they fell down inside the wall, and started again. I purchased the Glarks pack of 60 toggle bolts also from Amazon. The 1/8" smallest ones are slightly more substantial than genuine Fischer 3mm ones, and they'll push through the 10mm holes you now have in your cavity wall. The cabinets I was putting up that use those adjustable corner hook / hanger mechanisms inside top left and right are now tight against the wall. The brackets they hook onto are rock solid even with just the 1/8" toggle bolts. I did everything right with the Plasplug SHCF553 product. I even got screws that measured 4.35mm diameter across the thread peaks. They're just flawed. The whole rear wing and pull-frame moulding needs to be made much more substantial. If you don't heed my advice and buy these, you must want to taunt yourself with failed DIY projects (which nobody actually wants). Get toggle bolts or the ZIP-fix style (although these need a wider cavity space for the toggles to go into and turn flat). Wish I'd gone for the toggle bolt kit first and taken more notice of the poor reviews of these. In addition, since people are returning these with a number of failed fitting attempts, the pack you'll get probably won't contain 30. Mine contained 26 which is a new low (4 missing / used by someone else). How Amazon can sell used packs missing parts and not say or do anything, or even sell these at all is beyond me. I don't doubt Plasplugs are a great brand - they've been around forever and I'm sure some of their original products are "go to" fixings for those in the trade (and the know). Just not these.
