Don't sweat it
Don't sweat this thing! Yes I know both ends have 1/2 threads, but on the male side, it has a smooth opening that fits exactly on a 1/2" copper pipe. This is a typical design for valves what can be threaded or soldered. I soldered the male side to a copper pipe and the heat melted whatever plastic is holding the ball valve inside. Now it leaks even on fully off position and the lever is loose. Whatever you do, do NOT sweat this valve! They should have included that on their item description.

Poor design
The pipe threads bottom out too early so it's impossible to get the threads leak proof with either pipe dope or 10+ wraps of thick tape. Tried at least 5 times. And the through hole is too small restricting flow. Huge waste of time! Purchased a replacement from hardware store and had no problem.

Not NPT on female side
Good product, however the female is NOT NPT (tapered). It is the same thread pitch as NPT, but a male NPT will bottom out. I had to seal it with an o-ring. The male side is NPT and tightened down as expected.
