Product Description The most complete single CD/cassette "best of" available from The Monkees. Includes all of the group's Top 10 single sides, their '80s comeback singles, rare material, and an informative booklet packed with plenty of photos! Certified at 500 thousand units by the RIAA. (2/01) .com Unless you're a snob, a good Monkees collection belongs on your shelves, not too far from discs by the Turtles, the Lovin' Spoonful, and other avatars of clean, occasionally rocking '60s Top 40 pop. Greatest Hits is a more than generous stack, bringing together not only the obvious megahits ("I'm a Believer," "Pleasant Valley Sunday," the incredibly propulsive "Valleri") but also a number of tunes that had the bad luck to fall on the wrong side of the act's swift rise and fall. Foremost among these is "Porpoise Song," a lyrically incomprehensible Goffin/King stab at psychedelia that's at once a crass cash-in and one of the loveliest, most fragile sounds to emerge from the American hippie dream. --Rickey Wright

Great memories
I bought this as a gift for my mom. She absolutely loves it! This record brought back memories from her teenage years! I was glad to see how well they packaged the record. It was delivered in perfect condition, and arrived very fast! Highly recommend!

The Best of the Prefab Four
Probably the best single-disc Monkees compilation disc. Covers their peak years and then some. You get all the big commercial highlights (Last Train to Clarksville through Valleri), the post-tv show cancellation minor hits (D.W. Washburn through Listen to the Band), and the post-comeback MTV-era hits (That Was Then, This is Now, Heart and Soul). Some of my personal faves are the B-sides (Steppin' Stone, The Girl I Knew Somewhere, Words) and non-singles (Theme from The Monkees, Mary, Mary, Randy Scouse Git). At 20 tracks, it's about as complete an overview (1966-1995) as you're likely to find, and it's a really good one. Includes a top-flight booklet with excellent notes, and boasts very good sound for its time (a 1995 release). Could use a remix / remaster upgrade. Four-and-one-half stars and highly recommended to fans of the Prefabs and mid- to late-'60s pop in general.

Great music stands the test of time
I have owned every version of this album ever made. From records, to records (vinyl) and everything between. These were not necessarily always the "Monkees" playing or singing, but who cares. The songs are all great. One of the best albums made.

Great songs!
Great list of Monkee hits to get you dancing and singing. The only one missing for me is "She".
