Nostalgic, Excellent Cooling, but Don't Touch the Back Plate
- Not very difficult to install with careful attention to instructions.- Color is very nostalgic to older gaming handhelds like the Gameboy.- Fits great with comparable durability and quality to original backplate.- The cooling is surprisingly effective, but can get too hot to touchThe heat transfer plate on this is my favorite part about it. I have been able to play more extensive games that would often crash before due to the system overheating and that happens significantly less now. When I'm really pushing the limits of what his console can handle with games that require better specs like Marvel Rivals, I can use any cold object against the back plate every so often, and it cools down rapidly. It is pretty easy to avoid touching it but it can be a bit hot to the touch.

Everything you need to have a cooler cooler deck
Included is tools, extra screws and of course the back plate with changeable back bumpers of varying sizes. I like the color, the semi-translucent plastic is just a little ostentatious for my tastes but the dual color is nice.I was surprised by just how much of a heat difference the plate makes. While, of course, you experience may vary, my deck went for 85-89c under a heavy load to 60-67c, which is just an astounding difference. I was just expecting a 5-10c difference, but more than 20c was a happy surprise.Of course, there is a inconvenience which is with the new back plate there is a small square that is hot to the touch and is quite easy to graze. While you won't burn yourself, unless maybe if you kept your finger there for a minute, it takes some adjusting to not graze the plate because the heat is uncomfortable to the touch. However, this is an impossible inconvenience to avoid if you want the cooling benefit in such a minor way and I totally feel it is worth the minor inconvenience if retraining how I hold the 2% of the time

Looks awesome! Don't use the silicone pad.
First off, I absolutely love this back plate. I was going to replace my R1 bumper, so I figured I would put on a cool back plate while I was at it. I saw a couple reviews mentioning that the black rectangle on the back can get pretty hot. I also experienced this. There's a 'silicone cooling pad included. But I noticed the stock back plate doesn't have anything like that, so I wondered if it was just restricting airflow. Opened it back up, took the pad out, and it's MUCH better. No hot spot, and honestly the GPU and CPU temperatures are lower than they were with the pad inside. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND LEAVING IT OUT. For your fingertips sake!

Awesome
I wanted something to make my steam deck stand apart and this is it. The metal dissipates heat very good resulting in lower temps, and the transparency looks super cool. It's very easy to install and fits perfectly. I've had it for a year now and wouldn't want to go back to stock based just on how cool and vibrant the purple is.

Easy Install, great look on the Steam Deck. Button risers are awesome!
Product came nicely packaged with the back shell and the back button risers.Included is a set of tools which is nice but I would recommend using your own set if you can as the screws on the steam deck are easily stripped. Make sure to not over tighten them when installing the plate since the screws are self threading. The install is simple, take the 8 screws off on the back and put the new plate and screw it in. Viola. I replaced the buttons on the clear plate with my desired ones, and there are 2 sets to choose from included the stock ones.I would say that this is a great and practical upgrade for the steam deck. Looks great in person and the purple is reminiscent of everyone’s favorite Atomic purple. The button risers on the back alone make it worthwhile since I have always felt they were a bit hard to reach and press on the stock steam deck.Overall it’s a great little upgrade both visually and for practical day to day use.

Absolutely the best mod I've done to my 'deck!
This is by far my favorite 'deck mod! The heatsink gets HOT, the thermal pad fits great and there's zero gap (others mentioned having a gap and having to modify the thermal pad, mine fit perfect, no gap in the shell) and the atomic purple is stunning! It's identical to the atomic purple shell (front, rear and joycons) on my OG switch, which came from eXtremeRate and very close to my original N64 controllers.I haven't had any random reboots while running "heavy" games since installing this, and I attribute that to the fact that this averages around seven degrees cooler than before ~ before, it would hover right around 98-99c before rebooting.I wish the heatsink were slightly larger and/or they made a small fan attachment for it to cool it down even more, but for the $20'ish I paid for it, I have absolutely no complaints. The rear buttons.. I used the "middle" set, because I wanted something more than the original buttons, but not quite as extreme as the "high" set, and they're working fantastic as well.Overall, 10/10, I definitely recommend this upgrade to anybody who is considering it!

Perfection. Just plain perfect.
This purple shell made my 512GB look amazing. It was so easy to install that I was honestly shocked by it's installation. I watched Taki Udon do a full shell replacement and glad I didn't hold off for that, because it was just too intricate and seemed dangerous. This was a great decision. Highly recommend this for anyone who wants to make their SD look good. The plastic feels and looks like OEM and it does not lose grip. I didn't use the buttons tho, I used my OEM buttons.
