Excellent to easily start fires

These fatwood pieces seem to have more sap in them than the big brand one you buy off the shelf, and that's a good thing! They light quicker and burn hotter. These are the best ways to get a wood stove, fireplace, or an outdoor fire pit going.

As a single mom tending fires in her own wood burning fireplace or for camping, having a good starter that burns for a long time is essential. This makes it easy to start and I’m confident that the fire will burn well. Thank you!

Best fire starter ever! HOT !!

I've used P&H fatwood plenty in the past--this review isn't on the quality, just the misleading and unfair description. It is packaged to fool you. Specifically, there are representative photos of every size available, but the 2lb. size uses the same photo as the next larger box. The number of fatwood sticks is laughable--I had about 11 in my box...the value isn't there unless you order more (And pay more obviously.) This seller knows that mis-representing the product will result in customer dissatisfaction, and that most customers will just figure that their own hurried purchasing is to blame. And it is, I guess. But just because you can take advantage of someone doesn't mean you should. Add a representative photo for the 2 lb. box, maybe set on a salad plate so folks will realize the rip-off that's coming their way should they decide to buy the 2lb box. So while I know I won't be getting the amount of fire I thought I was purchasing--I take solace in knowing the fire you have waiting for you for ripping folks off will burn endlessly but never consume.

I had a few sticks that did not want to take when lighting up. I was using this in a Kamado to start under a charcoal basket. I made a square of alternating sticks so there was flow around them, and enough volume to catch the charcoal. I settled for getting each corner started because once they took off, they really took off. However I was struggling with a few spots to get them going. Something I’ll practice next season. Overall they worked great over chemical starters and smelled awesome.
