They are not what they used to be.
Seems that only paperback versions are available these days, and the quality of the paper is cheap and flimsy. Looks and feels like low quality recycled paper. There are fewer assembly drawings, and the photographs are, for the most part not very clear or easy to interpret.I am disappointed at just how much standards have slipped since I bought my first Haynes manual.

Gave me the information I needed
Needed to replace a electric and heated wing mirror. The book has all the information I needed to take the door panels off, remove and replace the wing mirror. Turned a £300-£400 pound job into £130 for the replacement mirror and a couple of hours of my time - more than paid for itself!

Remains a good starting place
I had to buy this Haynes manual as it includes the 1.2TDI engine version for my Seat Ibiza. (Haynes do a Seat Ibiza manual but it does not include the 1.2TDI engine). Anyway, this manual answered my questions. On the more positive side, Haynes manuals remain a good starting place. Its still worth the money to have a reference manual in the garage when working under the bonnet. However, they are being overtaken by the web and I would pay extra for a hardback version. This softback version wont easily stay open when on the bench.
