Great air conditioner but it is a little loud
Great portable air conditioner that easily gets the temperature down in 10-15 minutes, setup was nice and easy as was connecting the device to the smart life app.One of the reviewers said this didn't work with google home, but after some testing I found it does indeed work with google home and the assistant can tell you set temperature and current temperature of the device, it just requires you to link your smart life app to google assistant. The unit is a little loud, it is around 60-64db at 1 meter away and seems to make no difference in reading if in fan, cooling or drying mode, this isn't a huge deal for me as I can sleep with white noise but others might struggle with it.

Fairly basic, but does the job well
I had an an a/c unit I'd been given by a friend about 10 years ago. It only came out of the cupboard for a few days of the year, when the night time heat was 'silly', but I knew that it made a real difference in being able to sleep when a heatwave strikes. It was about twice the size of this model, way heavier and extremely noisy. When I saw this on a flash sale I went for it, as the old a/c had died a death last year. We seem to be getting many more hot and humid days and as I get older my tolerance for them decreases. I also work from home a lot and my house tends to be a bit of a heat trap, so I was looking for an a/c that would make it tolerable, without breaking the bank to buy. Electricity cost to run it is another thing altogether, but we all make compromises and for me, a reasonable nights sleep in high humidity is worth paying a bit more for.In comparison to the old unit, this is light years away. I find it much easier to operate, personally I don't find it noisy - I tend to sleep with a white noise machine anyway and this provides a similar constant, stable noise that doesn't interrupt my sleep. I ran it for two nights during a recent heatwave and it didn't wake me up with a 'water tank full' alarm in the middle of the night, like the old one would if you forgot to empty it every day. I have since started using the small provided hose to drain the water into a bucket, so the tank will never fill - it's much easier than trying to drain via the little plug at the bottom. It is surprising how much water is collected overnight during the humid weather.I find the cooling function to be very effective and it made my bedroom more than bearable when it was still 30c outside. At one point on the first night I actually woke up as had the vents directed at me with the cold air blowing on me so I could get to sleep. By about 2am, with just a thin sheet on the bed I had become too cold. I got up to move the unit and nipped to the bathroom at the same time. When I stepped out into the hall the heat hit me. I couldn't quite believe the temperature difference between the two spaces. During the day, if the heat is bothering me when i am working, I run it for a few minutes to bring the temp down and then turn it off until the heat annoys me again, roughly an hour/hour and a half later, so it doesn't need to be on all the time. I find that I can still listen to the radio or TV with it on, but, reading other reviews I suspect I may be more tolerant to background noise than others? If you don't like ambient light then you might want to drape a cloth over the display at night. There may be a way to turn the display off, but it doesn't bother me, so I haven't looked that up, but the light is quite bright. I keep the unit on 'full' mode, rather than use the sleep function, as I prefer the extra cooling and the noise isn't an issue for me, so maybe that is why the light is on?The unit design has clean lines and no unnecessary features, so it is smart, with the gently ridged pattern on the top of the unit being the only 'feature' element - the rest is basic and functional. It's not 'beautiful', but it's not 'ugly'. The remote is really pretty basic and won't win any design awards, but I found that once I learned where the buttons are, I can operate it at night without turning on a light and it does what it needs to do. I think if I ever lose it, or it breaks, a replacement will probably be much cheaper than one which is hi-tech and flashy, so I am fine with it. The unit takes a few moments to start after pushing the 'on' button and stays on for a few seconds after you use the remote to turn it off. I suspect this is just a normal procedure, but I did wonder if there was an issue the first time I used it.I opted for a unit that is probably a bit too powerful (900BTU) for the space I need to cool, but I choose to trade up because I will likely need to use it in bigger rooms at some point and I love the fact it can bring the temp down in smaller rooms very quickly. As it was already very competitively priced and there was a further discount for the flash sale, I effectively got it for the same price as a much less powerful unit from the 'big name' manufacturers. For my money I am pleased with this unit. For me the overriding requirement was that it was an effective air conditioner, not what it looked like or how prestigious the brand name was. let's face it, COSTWAY sounds like a bargain brand and that's what it is. However, it does what I need it to do without a ton of features that I don't need to jack up the price. If it lasts a few hot summers, it will be worth it. i won't be using it extensively, so I think it will give me good service for a good few years . I am already eyeing the doom-laden media reports of a 14 day scorcher to come in July 2023 and feel content that I bought this on 1 May, as now we are in summer it appears to be selling at almost double what I paid for it.

Excellent! Does exactly what it says on the tin
This is a great unit. It cools a room quickly and it has multiple functions. It made summer 100% more comfortable- we'd previously had to sleep downstairs because our bedroom is the hottest in the house. This changed that!Just be warned- we had to buy an adapter, this is built for sliding windows. The adapter is a piece of plastic sheeting with velcro which we bought on amazon and was about 15 quid. Easy to install so not too much of an inconvenience.

Very noisy and probably defective…
The unit should stop if the room temperature is lower than selected temperature. Not the case. At least for my unit. Moreover, it is very noisy. Over 70 dB. I don’t recommend.

Does a job
Definitely does help the room but ive had 3 different portable ac units in past and this is by far the least effective at cooling i brought the highest power model 9000btu n while it Definitely help with the heat and room temperature you dont get the ice cold chilly breeze you get from the good ones in hindsight i would rather spend abit extra to get something the cools a little better

Nothing to write home about, but it does the job
The good: it works, it does cool the air.The bad:It's loud, roughly the equivalent of an industrial fridge on a hot day, it's a constant noise so it's not too bothersome, you can watch movies with it running. There is no quiet mode, even with fan only it makes noise. The buttons are very finnicky to operateThe smart feature is not very smart, you can't link it to Google home, I would have loved to be able to ask Google what's the temperature in the house or to be able to turn it on or off with my voice. In cooling mode the display shows the temperature you have set instead of the current temperature, that's useless information. In other modes it does show the current temp.

Very good,23 degrees down to 19 in 30 mins. Don't notice heat outside. Perfect for semi detached living room size. Very study and easy to keep on top of I.e keeping filters clean. Brilliant purchase. If you're on the fence it's worth it.
