An efficient, close shave
I bought this to replace my 6000 series shaver that had only lasted me a couple of years before dying. I debated with myself re a Braun foil shaver v. Philips rotary head shaver and opted for another Philips because of several comments in reviews saying that the Braun did not give a close enough shave. One important point to note here is that I wet-shave with the shaver and would highly recommend this over dry shaving. I use a shaving gel and the shave is so close that it feels like I've used a blade. If you haven't tried using a wet & dry shaver with shaving foam or gel, I highly recommend it. The shaver glides much more smoothly over your skin and doesn't push the skin up in front of it as you move it around your face. Now to the kit: the version I bought had the cleaning pod and charging stand, plus four containers of cleaning solution; enough to last me a year. The cleaning pod can be placed anywhere, as it does not need power; the shaver powers the agitator when you slot it in; very clever. The pod seems to do a reasonable job of cleaning the head, but the shaver sits in it at an angle, and the cutter that is slightly higher than the other two cutters doesn't quite come out completely clean and free of shaving gel. A small point though. The battery appears to last for several shaves but I have not tested it to exhaustion, as I charge it every 2 - 3 days. One downside with all of these more advanced shaving systems, including Braun, is the price. I can't believe that some of these systems are over £200-£300 pounds. Find this at the right price though, and you won't be disappointed with the closeness of the shave, especially using foam or gel.

Nice bit of kit, lovely shave.
To be honest you do not need the cleaning kit, it just ups the money. Keep it simple and cost effective and just buy the shaver. I have been going back to a wet shave over the years time and time again as found electric shavers a real bind, making my face sore and taking forever to shave. I have just a normal stubble, and this shaver makes light work of it. Used very gently on the skin it does give you a close shave. Timed how long to use and it took just under 2 minutes. Well happy.

For me, this was a return to the Philips rotary shaver system after a decade or so with Braun foil shavers. I find the rotary shavers just have the edge in my case, though both do the job well enough.Chose the series 7000 in the knowledge than an upgrade to 9000 series performance is possible just by substituting the cutters from the latter in due course. However am finding the standard 7000 performance is pretty good. I was apprehensive that the new 3 pentagon shaped head would prove too bulky as some have reported. However no problem accessing awkward places such as under the nose or ears - in fact an improvement over my previous Braun series 7, perhaps because of the omnidirectional cutting nature of the rotary system. The app gives some basic guidance on using the shaver and adds an accurate battery meter, but hardly a reason for buying. The pod cleaning system is very convenient and works well but has no drying function, so leaves the shaver wet with detergent. I find contact with cleaning fluid causes skin irritation, so rinsing and drying is important for me before reusing the shaver (I had the same problem with the Braun cleaning fluid).

Best Electric Razor I have owned
I bought this in last Black Fridays' deals. I have always used electric razors with a foil in the past, but they never seemed to tackle neck hairs and unless used every day, they would struggle with more than one days growth. The Philips shaver is quiet in use and whilst not giving a closer shave than other razors, it tackles neck hair and stubble with ease. Extremely easy to clean, so after 2months of use I am more than satisfied. The battery life is good, but my previous razor lasted longer, hence 4 stars.

Fantastic
Wow what a shaver this is.I can safely say this is, without a doubt, the best shaver I have ever had.I was hesitant to buy it at first due to the amount of cheaper shavers available at the moment but I don't regret for a moment going ahead and getting one.The cleaning station is so easy to use and can double as a place to keep the shaver when not in use, everything else has been said by other reviewers, so if you are in the market for a top notch shaver then this one is one you should seriously consider.

Simply superb
My old Philips 3000 series finally died after many years of daily use so I purchased the 7000 series as a replacement I simply cannot fault this shaver it gives me a far superior shave than the 3000 series ever did.It glides effortlessly through my daily stubble leaving a smooth shave almost as though I used a conventional razor and no irritation and to top it off a quick rinse under the tap and pop it in the cleaning system and it's ready for the next morning can't ask for more just simply superb.
