Need to use vaseline on screw and bung
I thought I was having a problem with my wine until I found that the seal around the screw lid was not good enough. A layer of vaseline at all possible gas escape rotes solved this. You need long skinny arms to clean the inside after use......or a husband with the same.

This was a gift for my brother. Very good sturdy wine drum. Chunky handles on the top. He says his wine is now bubbling away and he is happy with this wine making drum.

Prevents bottle bombs
I use this to let beer fermentation finish completely without air spoiling the beer. Once no more carbon dioxide is produced, the beer can be bottled and excess pressure buildup is very unlikely. This procedure made the greatest improvement to my home made beers.
