It works
iPods are definitely not easy to take apart and you definitely need the proper tools and I don't know what they are because I used so many to get to the right ones. It is easy to tear up your iPod and yet if you are careful you can properly do it but it's not easy. It is fragile looking and to tell you the ruth I/m not sure how I didn't tear the ribbon or crush the input or button but it is certainly worth giving it a try when your iPod doesn't work and I have no idea how much a professional would charge, but then they do it for a living and won't make a mess of it. So if you think you can.....

Perfect fit , basically OEM
I broke my original one's ribbon cable on my upgrade saw it was super easy to replace on YouTube and saw this and the reviews and I agree. I give it 5 stars and it's a reputable replacement basically OEM. A+ , saved me on my iPod upgrade!

Not the advertised product, works great in SLIM iPod Classic, NOT for Thick model.
This product was advertised as being for the thick iPod Classic 6th/7th gen. However, it is actually the same product for the thin version of the iPod.The ribbon cable seen in the photo has the original on the left, and the new from this listing on the right. As you can see, the fold line (white line across the ribbon cable) going to the hold switch is far closer to the hold switch in the new product. Unfortunately, this means that the cable can't be placed where it is meant to, but has to be placed crookedly and in an uneven manner underneath the battery because it's 4-5mm too short at the switch. This means that the cable will not fit right, and may cause problems over time. I will try to see how this works, but buyer beware, this is for the THIN, NOT the thick iPod classic. That said, I tested the product without assembling my iPod, and as far as I can tell, it resolves all the audio issues I had with the iPod registering a removed headphone jack simply when the jack moved, so the lose connection in the old is completely gone. Seems like a quality product, and I'd strongly recommend it for a SLIM iPod Classic.

Exact replacement, Foxconn new old stock, identical to old ribbon cable and parts
The ribbon cable markings identify it as foxconn HF/e1 apple 821-0690-A copyright 2008.The headphone jack had a different color of plastic on it, but only on the interior side of it.After following a fixit repair guide and replacing my cable, the old ipod is working great again.
