Update to "Love these for my 97 -year-old mom!"
It keeps her fingers separated so that she doesn't scratch herself. I cover the entire cushion and hand with the bottom cut off part of my husband's sports sock to protect her face also. It also makes it so much easier to clip her fingernails while wearing it! It is a little difficult to ease her tightly-clutched fingers into the correct spaces. You have to very carefully tug on each loop to get it on correctly. I sewed a small ribbon onto the top of each loop to use to tug without touching her fragile fingers.UPDATE: I ordered more and now the loops are quite a bit larger. Not sure if they will stay on her hands as well. However, we cut off the bottom of a big, soft sock and put it over her hand like a mitten as she has started jamming her hands up tight against her face. That keeps her fingernails off her face.

Very soft but hard to keep in place
I bought this for my mom who has severe contracture of her left hand post stroke. Itās so bad that her fingernails were cutting into her palm.Pros: The cushion is nice. The fabric is soft and cuddly. The cushion is firm enough to keep her fingers out of her palm but soft enough to cradle them.Conās: She canāt put it on by herself. Itās definitely a two person job if the contracture is severe. The soft cuddly fabric and the size of the finger loops allow it to slide off her fingers after a time. Thereās nothing to keep it in place on the hand. If it had elastic loops instead of fabric or some other way to secure it to the hand it would be a much better product.Bottom line is nice cushion at the price but not really practical for severe deficits. I canāt recommend.

Helpful soft device
I wanted something that could keep my hand opened while I slept. I have a neuromuscular disease that can cause hand weakness. The diameter of this is too narrow and I have small hands. It would be great if it were wider so that it opens the hand more.
