Well-made, substantial and good quality
A very well-made, substantial and attractive, traditional Sheffield-made Ettrick. It is identical in almost every way to my other one of these, which was my grandfather's, and so is about 100 years old. The spring was initially very stiff, but eased off quickly with a bit of use. The blade took a good edge with a whetstone and I’m confident I’ll get many years use out of this excellent tool.

This knife is just what I was looking for, with a longer handle than blade
I really liked the length of handle to blade, it is easy to sharpen and fit nicely into my pocket and it is so strongThe price is excellent, I am expecting this knife to last and last

Hard to get a decent edge on this knife
Feels good, well made but this knife doesn't come properly sharp, probably because it is one of those knives that just doesn't want to be sharp. Spend some time on it and you'll get an edge of sorts but it soon blunts. I think the problem is the blade thickness and thr profile of the edge. It would be nice if the company keep the basic design and adjust the steel and the blade to make it cut as it should.

British craftsmanship at its best.
Second pocket knife from this seller, classic design along with superb workmanship, spring a little on the strong side on this occasion, hence 4 star, but strongly recommend seller.

A proper knife
If you live in the UK and need a proper knife to, you know cut stuff, this is your knife. You will need to know your way about a knife though, becuase it comes with next to nothing of an edge but if you know what your about that is a good thing. I took me 7 min to use a stone to put a very nice edge on this and a further 8-10 mins to hone it to perfection. No joke this blade is now sharper than a flexicut whittlin jack. You can not only shave with this thing but whittle cherry and oak. Fit and finnish was good and it was centered nicely. But this is a C70 carbon hand made knife. Hone it , oil it and dame its sharp. If you need a knife to cut rather than prove your a dick with a flicky our piece of machine cut trash. This is your knife.

Excellent tool
I bought this to cut plug pipe tobacco. It allows me to cut thin slices perfectly. If you need precise cuts the sharper the blade the better and there's nothing to beat Sheffield steel.

Lovely
Lovely little knife. Sharp and very comfortable in the hand. Spring is a bit heavy, so takes a little bit of effort to open. That shouldn't put you off though.
