Comfortable and durable
My husband is on his feet most of his work day. Normally gets in 10,000 steps. He really likes these boots (they are his 3rd pair)

Not even shoes are safe anymore
It's official. Everything sucks now. Car parts were the first to decline in quality, then appliances. Now shoes.I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars on Merrel footwear. 8 inch side zips, 6 inch laced, riverbed hiking shoes, etc.I paid the price because they were quality. I am rough on shoes, but find thick leather boots like redwings and thorogood unbearably uncomfortable. Merrel towed the line between comfort and toughness.Until now.Within days the glue began to separate between the sole and upper. From day one the waterproofing was mediocre. I cannot stress how disappointing this is. Now I don't know what to buy.A crying shame this is.They're still comfortable, and the price seems to be coming DOWN from when I first started buying them, but the quality just isn't what it used to be.

Mod 3
I have had three versions of these series of Merrell boots. Mod 1 was great, mod 2 did not last nearly as long. Decided to roll the dice on mod 3 and am happy I did. They have been working great. The big difference was the change in material over the toe box that split on my last set of mod 2 boots. So far the comfort and fit are what I’m used to and the material seems to be a better fit for this boot.

Unsatisfied
I had a pair of Merrell Moab 2 tactical boots that I liked so I got another pair of Moab 2's with Goretex when they wore out. I thought the first pair may have worn out prematurely when the sole fell off considering I spend most days on my couch, not hiking in them. I felt the same way when the Goretex started leaking in the second pair after just a few months of light casual use. I thought I'd try them again because they were comfortable most of the time even though they don't last long. The Moab 3's don't even fit the same way. I have worn a size 12 for over three decades. My toe doesn't even come close to the toe box like my previous two pairs. I thought it was a bad batch, so I got another pair. Same thing. Even the size 11.5 feel gommy. They feel awkward even after I pull the laces to tighten them more than they should be. Plus, they feel hard. Even brand knew they feel like I need to swap out the insole for a new one with more cushion to it. I don't know if all Merrell shoes are like this now or just this model, but I won't be buying them again. I'd return them except I have worn which voided the return policy. I'd recommend trying them at a local retail outlet before purchasing. I expect a lot more from a hiking boot in this price range. Not satisfied at all.

Excellent shoe/boot, comfortable
These Merrell s mob 3 are very comfortable and they look good. (There's several other models of these in black that don't look quite as nice.) They're easy to put on and take off and while they're listed as "waterproof", I haven't tested them but I'm sure they are. I tried on a similar boot by Skechers and they were hard to get on and off and they felt like a boot. The Moab 3 feels like a shoe. I got a better price thru Amazon vs going to the Merrels website.

Eyelets break
I had the first pair and had to order a replacement because the eyelets broke on one of the boots. I then got the second pair of boots and the eyelets broke on the opposite boot before sending the original pair in. Those lasted 2 months before the sole started to separate at the toe.
