Really pleased I chose this pair of cameras
Having read and watched a bunch of reviews of this and many other cameras, I settled on the Tapo 2K wireless camera pair + hub. The main reasons being ease of installation, product reliability, image quality and especially that a subscription is not required.I knew that a wireless installation would be more straightforward than having to drill and run wiring, but I was not expecting the fantastic job the company have done to hold your hand during the installation process. There is a brief and clear initial setup guide, which includes a QR code for you to continue the installation via your phone. I really liked this. Each step was clearly presented, one at a time. I was very pleased when you'd be told something along the lines of "when you plug this in, the indicator will blink red for a few seconds and then go green". And what was forecast would be correct each time, so I'd know the installation was proceeding correctly. Before long I'd got the cameras and hub installed, all without a hitch, even though this was my first time installing CCTV.The app is great and works a treat. So many ways you can control and fine tune the system to suit your needs. Until I got used to it though sometimes I would struggle to find the right menu path to reach the setting I wanted to tweak. But it didn't take long to become familiar with the options important to me.I didn't want to use the offered subscription service - why keeping paying for something you've bought? So I installed a 256GB microSD into the hub. This turned out to be much larger capacity than I really needed. It's taking forever to fill it up, even connected to 3 cameras (I ended up buying the same package again to extend my CCTV coverage). And if it does fill up then the system can continue recording by discarding the oldest if you haven't deleted some old stuff yourself first. So 128GB would have been fine.Having bought this package twice, I have 3 cameras connected to 1 hub and the 4th camera connected to the 2nd hub. I've split them this way because their wireless signal will go through 2 or 3 sets of brick wall and our 4th camera's signal couldn't reach the first hub. So I connected the 2nd hub to our WiFi closer to where the 4th camera is mounted. The whole system performs very well. The image quality is fine and the cameras start recording correctly under the criteria that I selected - I turned off pet, vehicle and movement alerts and chose human detection alerts. The system uses AI to distinguish them. I chose movement detection to be off because of very long grass waving in the wind causing false alarms. We have a glass table on the patio. In the summer this would sometimes set off the camera overlooking it. This was because it would emanate heat from the sun which would trigger the camera to look for a human - and then sometimes cloud reflections on it would look like a human! So I set the area scanned by the camera to exclude the table top - it's very handy being able to precisely specify which parts of the view seen by a camera should be monitored and which should not.The camera at the front door gets the most triggering, mostly from deliveries. Accordingly its battery lasts a little over 3 months before needing recharging. The camera that is triggered the least still has 87% charge after 3 months. The cameras are solidly well made and feel reassuringly hefty and robust in the hand. Overall I'm entirely pleased with the product, its ease of installation and use, its performance and its price.

Very good, allow truly wireless cameras.
I needed a solution to allow external cameras at my elderly mum's house. Wired cameras were not an easy option. I fitted the battery operated Tapo 2k cameras which are good. However I didn't want to be up and down the ladder and charging them if I could avoid it so I took a chance with the solar panels too. They work perfectly. The cameras only use a very small amount of charge anyway, and these seem to top up daily. Hopefully the batteries will manage the level of charging as the solar panels just supply the voltage. I was worried grey days may not be enough, but so far, grey skies in March and they seem to be doing fine. Seems to be the ideal solution so far. Comes with extra cables and fittings, micro usb and c. Re the cameras. Well I had Kasa kit, and at last TPLink have now created an app that does both Kasa and Tapo. The cameras work well. Motion and Person detection seems to be good, the image is clear. Night vision is in colour and the spot light is good. Infra red if you prefer. If you swop to live view, the camera does take a few seconds to refresh but I am using the internet to connect to my mum's place so that may be it. For the money, and the wireless convenience these are ideal. Wired systems recording 24/7 are obviously better but you going to have to pay and get all the wiring.

Does what it’s meant to, no subscription.
Got this to work along side a video doorbell and Tapo hub. I set it up on a shelf for a couple of days before mounting it on the wall to get a feel for the angle, sensitivity and how easy it was to operate on the app.Installation and set up was easy. I chose this one because it’s not easy to take off the wall (I don’t want it nicked) and so it’s about 7ft off the ground and I’ll need a ladder to change the battery. Because if this, you don’t want to have to change the battery too often, so you don't want it activating for nothing. The sensitivity is a bit of an issue. I have it set for person detection, but it does pick up birds. I find that neither the doorbell nor the camera battery last as long as expected, so I have a spare and I rotate them. You can set it to automatically switch off during certain times of the day if you don’t want it alerting you when the miracle happens and one of the kids actually does put the bins out. Or maybe that is worth recording…Image is clear, angle is good and it’s easy to save clips to your phone. I run it with no subscription. You can adjust sensitivity for person, pet, vehicle and motion detection.Issues - annoyingly you get two separate notifications for motion and person detection. Presumably a person who materialised in view of the camera and didn’t move would only trigger one notification, but it hasn’t happened yet because we don’t live in a Star Trek universe.Birds and bats frequently trigger person detection. When the app updates, it resets to reset to enable vehicle and pet detection as well, every time. Also you don’t get a notification telling you the app has updated, so it’s wise to check your settings occasionally.Overall I’m happy with the camera and the Tapo system in general - you don’t need a subscription which is a big plus and you can now choose whether you want your phone to ring or just receive a notification when the doorbell rings (a recent upgrade).Loses a star for incorrect activations & notifications, the resultant battery drainage, making settings changes when the app updates. But that’s me being picky and I’d defo recommend the Tapo system.

Great quality and value
Installed these a while ago, my first Tapo products. Easy to install and set up with hub. Simple to adjust settings, including blanking off areas to prevent false alarms. Good picture quality and long battery life. I have since gone and bought their video doorbell and leak detector, and will probably expend the system further.
