Illegal plug - never tried & sent back
I never used the welder as it was fitted with an illegal UK plug, as such I returned it to Amazon. The plug was moulded on & didn't have provision for a replaceable fuse (no fuse hatch) so I presume it didn't have a fuse fitted. I could have cut the plug off & fitted a 13A plug/fuse but that would, I think, have invalidated the warranty. Also why should I have to do this? If sold on Amazon UK it should be fit for purpose & safe to use in the UK! Having said that the welder seemed well built & was small enough to carry easily. The accessories that came with it (mask & chipping hammer) were poor quality though. I've seen reports of dodgy plugs fitted to similar products so please read the reviews or be prepared to fit a legal plug if you buy one of these machines. Shame :(
