Used this smart switch to replace a normal Steinel switch.Set up is easy once you download the app.Adjustment is straightforward from the light level to switch the light on, the earliest time to come on and the switch off time.Only gripe is how close you have to be to the switch to connect to it.Would definitely buy this again.

I bought this unit because of the Bluetooth control features it offered, as well as the user settable LUX switch on/off light levels,SADLY....This Steinel unit needs a thorough design change.FIRST PROBLEM: The wiring to this unit needs to be connected to the unit via a small internal connector block. One is supposed to press down on the tiny levers and hold it down while simultaneously inserting the wire(s) into the block where they will make contact, once the little lever is released and the wires are clamped down. To cut a long story short. Maybe this works with solid copper wires, but trying to get it to secure a 0.75 mm stranded wire is impossible. I even ended up tinning the wire end with a soldering iron, but the clamps just do not work. RESULT? Bad, or no decent connection possible.Second problem: The unit provides for bottom, or back entry of the wiring. For back entry, Steinel provides already inserted rubber grommets, which can be pierced to put the cable thru.HOWEVER...for possible bottom entry, you need to drill, or hack-out, the holes yourself, out of the plastic enclosure casing. Please trust me when I say that this is a rotten/miserable job, and it has to be accurate otherwise the grommets will NOT fit.Steinel does not specify what Bluetooth version they are using. I found the Bluetooth connection erratic and it certainly did not cover the expected distance between my phone and the unit, thus rendering the unit uncontrollable.While on paper the unit promises much, in reality I found this unit a bitter disappointment and very much regret buying it. The only good thing is that I can use it, (when it works) to measure the light (LUX) level. I have gone past Amazon's return date so I cannot return it, which I most certainly would have done if I could.I have over 60 years experience in installing electronic and electrical equipment and am a fully licensed A class radio amateur. I hate writing negative reviews, in the 20 years I have been an Amazon customer there have only been a few, but this unit deserves it's ONE * rating.Albert
