Perfect
This helped guide us thru every town and village we came to. Lots of great information! We will get one for every trip we take!!

A terrible new version
Been a loyal LP reader for almost 20 years, and bought this guide out of curiosity for the new format. In my very humble view, it's a terrible upgrade (or in fact a major downgrade): the new version has none of the original LP strengths (extensive cultural/historical details, plenty of practical tips, high degree of reader-friendliness), and also doesn't seem to present any strong new feature. Most information that used to be in old-format guides is lost, and so are dedicated sections with restaurant/hotel options - the new format is also somewhat confusing in my opinion, and lacks those (VERY useful, I think) background sections on a country's history, politics etc. I hope this new format was just an experiment - if not, I'll have to switch to a different brand. Too bad!

Totally underwhelming
We had a great Lonely Planey guide for Greece from about 10 years ago. Bought this one to have updated information for a trip this summer. There's a lot less info in the book (which is hidden at first by a lot of visual gimmicks but becomes apparent pretty quickly when using it on a travel) plus it doesnt have the intuitive structure that a Lonely Planey guide normally has. Also, no historic background for cities and sites; no opening hours, websites; no "how to get there". Result: we've basically not used it during this year's visit to Greece. Too bad.

It's different, but I dig it
Currently planning a big trip to Greece and the Greek Islands this summer and purchased the new guide for this purpose. Was surprised at the changes (given I have used Lonely Planet guides for over two decades) but I like what they've done. I like what they've done with the accommodation and restaurant reviews as they're now in these cool little boxes on the side or at the bottom of the page. And I really like the detailed overviews of each place - it all feels a lot more opinionated...a lot, um, richer. On that, I'm really impressed by how there's opinion in the writing again - I even found myself having a chuckle at some of the descriptions being used. Lonely Planet had become a bit dry and now there's pep in their step again. We've actually changed a couple of things we're doing on our trip based on the advice in the itineraries.Contrary to some of the reviews on here I disagree and I think these changes are a massive improvement.Highly recommend.
