Surprisingly sturdy
I didn't know what to expect when I order this window guard. The is for a window right next to my garage with a basket ball hoop. I wanted the guard to protect the window with dual purpose of safety. I received in great time and opened it. It was surprisingly more sturdy then I thought it would be. In the photos it looked flimsy. My wife was like ugh. She said nah, I thought let's see and if I don't like it I can always return. It was super simple to install. They got me on accessories. I had to buy brackets separately. All u need was a drill and a level. It just took 5 to 10 minute and this was alone no help. I tested the basket ball against it and worked like a charm. Overall I think it was great buy.

Warden Norton ordered these for Shawshank I heard.
The bars are easy to install, of good quality, and come in a variety of sizes that should suit most needs. They should work well to secure windows from outside entry, and for the price and ease of DIY installation (you'll need a 2nd set of hands, a drill, and an impact wrench), are good value. They get 4/5 stars because you have to buy the hardware separately, and it is (of course) ridiculously expensive. Also, after you drill the pilot holes for the massive one-way screws, you have to have a flathead bit wide enough to run those one-way screws in. You need an 8mm at the least, and 99% of the bit kits on the market don't include one near that size. I only found one that large in a special 'security' bit kit at Harbor Freight that had 100 bits I didn't need, and only 1 that I did. So that one bit cost me about $12. But if you have windows, and you want them secured, it's well worth the cost. Nobody is getting into my cabin through a window--that's for sure. Just enough with the gouging for separate hardware already.

Excellent product
The window bars arrived timely and in great condition. Easy to install once you get the hang of it. This is the 4th one I have installed. Attractive and secure. Will definitely slow down anyone who is thinking of breaking in.

Hardware not included
It would be nice to know that you have to buy the hardware separately. And nice to know what to buy. They look nice but now no way to put them on.

Ensure which brackets are needed since they are ordered separately
I have a manufactured home with the non-flush windows so needed the 3" ext. mounting brackets. These installed in no time at all once the centering, measuring, and leveling was done. I installed two of the 24" x54" bars and used the tie brackets to join them and it works great. Most important, measure, measure, measure, and ensure which brackets you will need to use since they are ordered separately. The most difficult part of installing was just the measuring the window to center the bars. The bars themselves; even connecting two together was fast and easy; installed two in about 30min. (again, the measuring and math took the most time). They aren't the expensive custom fit iron security bars but they do the job and my windows are inaccessible to enter. Note if used for bedroom windows, check local codes for you may need to order the emergency escape kit. Also I used 5/16" lag screws instead of the one-way security screws that are such a hassle.

Securing large door windows.
I realize you can just smash a hammer threw the 3" bars then reach in and undo the locks, so I paired this with a a secondary dead bold which is much stronger than original, plus really confusing to unlock. I ordered few extras to add to bottom and top, that way reaching through broken glass and trying to figure out why the door won't open will be a total pain.I feel this product could have more welding to strengthen the bars connection points, but it seems adequate. They do seem more secure, and I'm happy to have them. I been broken into through this exact door before from prying.I wanted to add that for a door install 1/4 inch carriage bolts work great. Under the round bolt head there's a square part for wrenching, which that square fits inside the bar attachment hole. So the carriage bolt head sits flat, and cannot be loosen from outside the door.
