Check your car first!
The flash drive works as described, silently going about its business without much fuss. If your vehicle is new, check the glovebox to make sure you don't already have one from the factory. I was told I needed to buy one and I actually had one already installed.

Fast flash drive
This "Tesla Dashcam" thumb drive is pretty much a regular thumb drive with some nice features: it has both USB-A and USBC-C connectors under a hood, is made of metal which presumably enhances cooling, and comes formatted in exFAT format with a TESLACAM directory pre-created. It's also fast! The Tesla requires a pretty good drive because it writes to the drive nearly continuously. While the Tesla-branded thumb drive that came with the car worked, it's only 32GB so I replaced it with a larger drive, which glitched, so I finally replaced it with a high-performance SD card and SD to USB adapter. That's been working, and then I saw this drive, presuambly certified for TeslaCam use and the prices was right (I can repurpose the SD card) so I figured I'd give it a try.I copied 120GB of files with various sizes (most were multiple gigabytes) to the memory stick. The write speed was pretty impressive.Write Speed : 137,905,576 Bytes/sec.Most of the USB3 memory sticks manage 50MB/sec write speeds, and usually lower. The memory stick did get very warm to the touch after these write operations, but not too hot to hold.Reading is a bit more of a mixed bag. I managed to read about 30GB from the stick at 117MB/sec and then the memory stick dropped offline and the copy failed with this error:Speed : 117,788,796 Bytes/sec.A device which does not exist was specified. However, the drive came back online and I was able to resume copying but it still stalled occasionally, pausing for 5-10 seconds. This could certainly have been a USB problem. The memory stick got quite hot and I did notice the read speed seemed to slow; maybe the stick is preserving itself by avoiding overheating.I then installed it in my Tesla. it seems to work and just gets warm. I can't yet speak to its longevity, as it will be written to much of the time by the Teslacam software.Overall, I'm going to give this drive 5 stars because of the stellar write speed, the two kinds of connectors. I'll update if problems crop up.

Item doesn't work.
The device is malfunctioning; however, readily available flash drives are compatible and will be formatted by the Tesla system. Formatting attempts have failed, unlike with other flash drives.

Drive works but it is nothing super fancy
This drive works as I expected. The drive is pretty fast but it is nothing that is too special. It does not have any extra special features. Honestly you could get another 3.1 drive and get something faster. The only thing you need to do is format to the appropriate format so it can be read by the drive. Regardless, the drive is pretty fast for a 3.0 drive. It is a pretty much plug and play drive so you do not have to worry about it not detecting on the tesla. I plugged this into the tesla and it works without issue. I am able to store several videos and pictures. It does stick out though being a big thumb drive. I do wish the drive was a bit small so it did not stick out like a sore thumb. Regardless, the outside design is very simple. It is just a black USB drive. Again I wish it was at least a 3.1 drive but I do not think the drive on the tesla would support the speed. It does have a hook so you can put a lanyard or wrist band on this but I do not really see a need considering it will always be plugged into my tesla. The drive did not have any issues with not reading or corrupting the file. Overall I think this drive is a bit overpriced for what you get. It is just a 3.0 drive formatted to be read on a tesla. It is not hard to format any drive so you could actually save and have a more compact USB drive. It is a bit long and sticks out. It does not overheat or anything. Also it stores the files safely and without corrupting the files.

I wasn't aware it had a usb-c port as well, impressive
really solidly build and none of the product picture showed it had a usb-c side as well. And the usb-c end is capable of 10Gbps speed transfer. Actual disk speed test shows around 340MB/s write and 400MB/s read in short burst. But prolonged data transfer will drastically slow down the transfer speed, which is to be expected for cheaper tier NAND flash especially in such a small enclosure. Way better than regular usb 3.0 pen drive which usually only gives you 15MB/s up and down. But the SSD does get significantly hot even after very short use. The metal casing does help dissipate the heat but because of the tiny volume, it just isn't much help. Heat also affects transfer speed quite a bit and if you can point a fan at it, it will be able to sustain a higher transfer speed for a bit longer.I do wonder how the majority of the reviews are complaining about how the SSD comes in FAT32 file format. Not only did mine came as exFAT pre-formatted, but re-formatting a drive is also such a mundane task that should be basic computer skills. As you as you reformat it to exFAT or any file format of your liking, the 4GB file size limit is eliminated. It shocks me how that can even be a criticism of the device, especially since a lot of system without an OS user interface (e.g. car infotainment system maybe?) requires the removable media to be formatted in FAT32. Even then... there is always google.
