Great Book on Shaykh Al Alawi
An amazing book about the life of Shaykh Ahmad Al Alawi as represented by the late Martin Lings. This book serves as one of the only books in English about the great Shaykh. Martin Lings is a very well non Perrenialist and his own views are scattered around the book, so one must be careful when looking at the chapter of doctrine as it doesn't represent the orthodox view of Muslim scholarship on wahdat al wujud (oneness of being) . Keeping that in mind one may tip-toe around Martin lings' statements as they don't belong to orthodox islamic beliefs. Apart from that it is a great book for Muslims and Non Muslims alike, although I do recommend that people study the orthodox positions on Islamic creed as Martin lings has inserted the views of the Traditionalist School (perrenialists) rather than the true Islamic view.
