I had a problem with the holes not being aligned properly. With a little work I was able to get the rack put together. I gave this a 5 star rating because when I contacted RoofPax support they worked closely with me to make things right. I really respect a company that stands behind its product 100%.

Cargo net didn’t even make it to the beach 600 miles away. Roof rack is extra sturdy and held every bit of 120lbs no problem!

I got the extended version. Well made and sturdy. No issues installing.

I bought this to use on a family trip where we would need extra room. First, I'll say that it does work. The basket keeps things from being directly on the roof of your car and makes it easy to strap everything down securely. BUT, this thing is a GIANT pain in the butt to put on and an even more giant pain to take off. The basket attaches to your cross bars with screw-on knobs that secure the brackets well but take quite a while to tighten onto the 4-5" threads. Not only does it take a good long time to tighten them but it hurts your hands and there really isn't a way to use pliers because of the shape and size.Also, it is pretty loud when driving with it and has a significant impact on your gas mileage. I lost around 5-6 mpg overall on the drive because of the drag. This means you don't want to leave it on your vehicle long-term and will need to install and remove it every time you need it. If that was an easy process it wouldn't matter, but it's not so it's really not worth the hassle.Overall, this basket does work to secure your luggage and keep everything off the roof, but it's not worth the work you have to put in for installation and removal. Coupled with the noise and the negative effect on gas mileage, it's best to avoid this product. Mine is going straight into the trash when I finally get the damn thing off the SUV.

Front wind plate didn't mount right so it made noise so we just wrapped it in tape but it's solid and sturdy had no issues going to and from Tennessee

This has to be one of the best deals in roof racks. You can make it 2 different lengths and it comes with nice accessories like a net and straps. I also like that if you don't want to use the front spoiler piece it still looks good without it. Same goes for the metal side plates. They just pop on and look totally cosmetic to me. I like it without any of those panels on so all that is a plus. It seems very sturdy too. The only thing that they dropped the ball on is the clamps that would attach it to my roof rack if they worked. They don't have enough thread's on them to tighten up on my cross bars. If they were threaded just another 1/2" they would have worked perfectly and completely tightened down on my crossbars. As is the roof rack is still sitting in my garage, waiting for me to figure out the best custom solution. Still I love it. When time allows I will get it mounted on my jeep xj. It's the perfect size for it at its longest length. 1 star taken off for the not universal cross bar clamps.

The instruction booklet we received had me begging for IKEA instructions.The drawings and diagrams are needlessly small, especially when it comes to placing the front windscreen. It had us second-guessing and it took a few redos before we shook our fist at the sky and decided we dont need the windscreen that bad.

2 possible lengths with one single setup. I went with the full rack which consists of two equal pieces plus the added center ribs. The complete build is slightly longer than the roof of a 2002 Ford Explorer. The full rack assembly took about 45 minutes to complete with an additional 45 minutes to secure the rack to the trucks crossover bars.The idea is for each of the pieces to slide into one another with each side being offset from the other. The center ribs can be excluded if a shorter rack is desired or added for the full length. Each connection point consists of two bars that will align when in place. A metal cap is used along with two bolts to secure the pieces together and complete the look. The full rack with both ends and ribs requires 4 caps and 8 bolts, the half rack requires half the hardware.Things to watch out for: Remove any plastic plugs in the ends of the tubes. Mine only had a couple and they are surely an effort to keep the tube ends from getting smashed, flattened, or damaged (see pic). Once the tube ends mushroom they become difficult to work with. ** Remove all zip ties AND padding, failure to do so will result in aggravation.Once complete and ready to mount to the vehicles roof keep in mind the crossover bars may need to be adjusted if applicable. I wanted to keep all points centered especially where the rack connects to the crossover bars. Adjusting the crossover bars was necessary to keep alignments centered and true to the roof rack.The material build is decent with this being an odd metal type identical to that used in low budget bedroom canopy sets, bed frames and rails. With all points considered this roof racks still earns 4.5+ star for being very budget friendly and price competitive for its size and style.
