Good for low-level constructions
I use these as a classroom set of compasses. They work, just not perfectly.

These ones last multiple years in your classroom
As the title says, safety compasses are pretty much all the same except for how quickly students break them. These ones last, for the most part, multiple years. I have bought 120 over 12 years of teaching 2-4 sections of geometry a year.

May not work with all pencils
The pencil holes on the sliding piece are quite narrow and don't have enough space for thicker mechanical pencils. Also, the joint that holds the protractor piece to the ruler manages to be both loose and sticky at the same time - it has a huge amount of play in the wheel, but when it's down on the table it sticks and makes the lines jerk. If you need something to demonstrate how to use a compass, this is a fine option (though there are much cheaper options that are less fiddly), but if you want to use this for any kind of art or drafting... don't.
