Very nearly PERFECT work light that has all the right features and great battery life
How hard is it to make a good work light? Apparently pretty hard, because I've tested several and there's always problems. This one (upgraded version) ticks almost all the boxes: it's very bright, has a big battery that lasts a long time--even on high brightness, uses the new USB-C charging standard, and has a magnetic base powerful enough to hold the light in any position. The brightness is variable and up and down brightness buttons work well. The only (minor) gripe is that the light setting isn't preserved between uses. It turns on to max brightness every time, so if you normally use it at 50% --which is plenty for most small jobs--you have to reset it to that level every time you turn it off. It's a bit annoying but I can live with it since all my other requirements are met. If it memorized the last brightness setting this would be a 100% perfect light. Are you listening Dr. Prepare?? (love that name) As it is, it's 96% perfect, good enough for 5 stars, and still the best work light I've used at anywhere near its (incredibly!) low cost. In fact it's better than a work light I bought recent at almost triple the price

This is my favorite flashlight. I have bought 5 of these.
I have a lot of flashlights. This one is the best. The magnet is the strongest on any of my flashlights. It really holds it where you want it. The batter lasts a long time. The light is bright. I have gotten lots of compliments and "where did you get that?".The USB-C recharge is another huge plus.

Soldered wire broke off with little to no usage
This review is for prior flip open version of unit, that was this SKU.May be useful for the new SKU given to flip-open version.Thought I was going to like it in truck.Able to recharge from vehicle if needed (slowly per 2.4A port).Magnet base to position light (can hold horizontal position on vertical surface if close magnet/metal connection).Or hang or spotlight (works fine).Used a couple times over the summer, no recharge since start and still 3 "bars/lights" left - so holds charge well. Was needing to start using more as daylight is ending early now.Opened the other night - no light. It displayed the 3 lights charge left. So it has power.Went thru the 2 modes (strip or spot lights) - nothing.Closed up and it worked - discovered could open 2 bumps before it stopped for either mode. Couldn't recall if it had sensor for only turning on if open enough, meaning sensor has misreading on amount open.Took apart - not that fancy, no sensor, just nice ratcheting mechanism to keep open at whatever angle you want.Power wire to the circuit board had pulled off, and it appeared it was never soldered on well in 1st place as contact was clean, very little solder on wire. The 2 common wires (1 for each light mode) were soldered well it appears, and they are right next to each other.Probably a sample defect because the red power wire was cut shorter, and pinched between plastic supports. If I'd tossed it around more at the start would have discovered issue during return window. But this was going to happen eventually with poor solder job on shorter wire likely stretched to max when closed.ETA - comments on issue found with wire. Will search for package info on warranty and contacting seller, and report back if that goes well and I get better sample to give true rating on.ETA: Seller found my review and giving full refund, but it appears the opening version of light from them is no more - I liked the shorter packing size of it compared to the full length one, and pivot base great for aiming light where needed. The magnet really can't hold the horizontal weight of opened unit attached to vertical surface if the surface has thick paint or other material there, common on cars, but at least the base is adjustable so you can make it angle up or down for less max weight. The adjustable light level is also nice to cut down on power drain when less light is just fine. Sadly it doesn't hold that setting, back to full brightness on next use.

It's a magnetic flashlight, that's downgraded!
So their other flashlight that offers replaceable batteries, a USB port to both charge and act as a battery bank, was cheaper and offered better features. One I thought I was upgrading to this one, every time you turn it on, the brightness is at 100%. You effectively get blinded and then you have to turn it down but it doesn't remember the brightness setting. It's substantially larger than the previous item which depending on your use case can be beneficial, but I was also under the impression that the battery cells were replaceable, which they are not.As a stand alone flashlight, very bright, works very well. But I could not call it an upgrade from their other offerings

the main light went dark after ten months of occasionally use
Bright light and strong magnet. It was good until the main light went dark after ten months of occasionally use. I hoped it would last for a few years, but it did not.
