Quick & easy install
While not the least expensive out there, the convenience of a full instruction set & someone who has iterated through placement is worthwhile. Very professionally packaged, including instructions.

Easy install, works great, looks good
The media could not be loaded. Easy install. Followed the directions and got it installed first try.My budget $20.00 rivet gun could not handle the hardware that comes with this kit. The gun looked like it begain to implode. Quick trip to local hardware store to pickup heavy(maybe medium) duty rivet gun took longer than the rest of the install.

just buy it.
just measure and mark with tape like the instructions say. it took me 15 min with 23 dollar amazon rivit gun. super straight forward. it's a must for these heavy hoods.

The kit does work, but...
The kit does work. But the mounting location on the hood is to low. I had to move the mounting location further up the hood. I alwaysount things with screws before any rivits anx I'm glad I did.The struts are nice and smooth, and hold to the hood up nicely. You only need to open the hood about halfway and the struts do the rest.

Struts are excellent, MAY NEED SOME FABRICATION
On my 2001 XJ there is a bracket for EVAP filter and stuff that bolts up in the same location as the strut bracket. I cut the back tab off to make room for the new bracket. I'm not concerned because there is another bolt on the bottom of the bracket so there are still 2 points of attachment. When the hood is popped open it's smooth and the struts are designed to slow down before reaching full opening height. If you work on your ride a lot it's a great mod. I think it's a little expensive so I hope the struts prove to be a lot better quality than the cheap options.

Fantastic Quality (US-Made?) Struts in s So-So Kit
Everyone will have different experiences using this kit. However, I do prefer it over assembling $45 bucks worth of cheap China sourced parts (which is okay for short term use). The gas cartridges seem to be very high quality. Redline says they are U. S. made. They are robust and have a progressive lift characteristic. The problem is that the 4 identical brackets, while super high quality, may not fit so easily on the passenger engine bay in some (especially early Renix design) XJ’s. In my ‘89, the bracket that must hold the pressurized overflow bottle at the highest point in the engine bay takes up the space for the bracket. I suppose I could have disassembled all that and severely chopped up the bracket, but it was much easier to use a different lower bracket. Amazon sells a small, round side-mount 10mm ball stud bracket that allows the stud to remain at the recommended mount height and it has three screw holes. I used just two holes on the passenger side because the bottle bracket sandwiched the third hole, and only two screws would work fine anyway. The included rivets were a non-starter for me. I preferred to drill out 5/64” holes and fit them with snug #8 sheet metal screws of 1/2” length which worked out great.

Good quality easy to install
The media could not be loaded. All it took was a cheap harbor freight rivet gun and about 5mins . and my 86 Comanche has a hood that holds its self open. These work great and hold the hood very high up and out of the way!

get rid of the stupid stick!
I have bought redline struts for all 4 of my jeeps 2 wranglers and 2 Cherokees, they are great and get rid of the stupid stick/rod, and still can disconnect easily to lay hood open when needed.
