No, it just needs to be all the way open and any old stuff removed.

Does the 0.2, 0.35 and 0.60 option indicate the width of the strip or the height of the brush?

The previous answer is incorrect. I bought the 0.35 x 0.2 option and measured it myself. The height of the brush was 0.2 inches and the width of the strip was 0.35. Thus the variable measurement given is the height of the brush, and the width will always be 0.35.

I need to seal an old sliding widow frame to keep out wasps/bees. Will this work for that? Thanks

Although we used only to block cold coming in, I think if the critters are crawling through the space(s) around the frame ( not a hole ) it should work for you. Good luck!

Anyone find it to thick for front door or will it compress over time.

Used it for French Doors, not a front door. I’d measure the space between the door and the Frame. The weatherstrip is 0.6 thick, so you can get an idea. The material is soft & will compress somewhat.
