Pecorino Calabrese - Whole Wheel (3 pound)

Excellent pecorino cheese at a reasonable price. I buy a wheel or two each year and love it sliced with fresh bread or good crackers. Shipping and packaging is good but I try to get it in cooler months

Bought it before it will be grated and used on spaghetti. Great cheese a a good price.

The media could not be loaded. I recently enjoyed a dining experience where the chef cooked risotto inside a cheese wheel. It seemed so easy and so unique I wanted to surprise my family for the holidays with a classy dinner experience. The cheese arrived to Florida in a cooler bag with 2 ice packs. It wasn’t cold anymore, but the cheese smelled fine and was still whole. I cut the top off and scooped enough to make a bowl. The family snacked on the scooped cheese and it was sharp but tasty. I made a homemade cream sauce for pasta and dunked the hot pasta into the “bowl” to make a homemade cheese Alfredo. It was fun and delicious!

The cheese was too aged to be good for eating. It tasted too sharp even after removing a large amount of rind.It was just too old.

Superb cheese ! And the price is an unbeatable bargain .

So the flavor is good but sadly the cheese seems to not be in the same state of aging as pictured, the cheese seems to be 1-2 years in aging rather than a younger peccorino like the one advertised.I was hoping to make Carbonara with it but since it's so aged and thus drier this wheel of cheese is much more suited to be put on spaghetti or a snack platter.

Great flavor, texture, packaging. Took over 3 weeks but worth the wait.
