Dont buy Moss killing products... use this and save a ton of money
This is the active ingredient in almost every moss killing/ removal product sold. At nearly 20 buck a gallon for some of them this will make you barrels of moss killer at pennies a gallon. I mix about 2-3 cups in a pump sprayer with 2 gallons of water, hot mixes faster. Spray it around on moss and within minutes it starts turning black and dies. Be carefull not to get any on sidewalks because it will stain if not washed off quickly. Or just mix it in a weaker strength. You can also use it on your lawn to kill moss in shaded areas. It will turn the grass a deeper green so test it somewhere first to make sure your ok with the change. It was for me because I liked the darker shade and it got rid of the moss which was killing the grass anyway. Rake it up afterwards and problem solved. Do your research and you'll never get taken advantage of by brand name marketing again.

Bag does not seal well.
For something so strong and staining and somewhat dangerous the bag does not contain it very well and does not seal. The product contents itself is great, but I definitely do want to comment on the lack of security with the container if it will be stored for a while. This is a fairly small complaint given that this product will typically be used up all at once.

Great Non-toxic protection for garden beds and for aging/staining wood
I've used ferrous sulfate for years in my wood garden beds and barn building projects. It is one of the only truly non-toxic methods for protecting against bug infestation and mold and is a fraction of the price of some of the other "treatments" out there. I can grow vegetables right up against the boards and not worry about toxins leaching into them like most other wood protectors. Do a search on Google and you will find more about it. I mix about 3-4 cups in 5 gallons of Water and either dunk spray or roll on to my pine boards. The more you add the darker gray the wood gets but it can take hours to weeks to darken fully so don't overdue it at first. An added benefit is that it grays the wood so it looks like old barnwood. I use this benefit by mixing it with iron oxide (which is just powdered rust and available on Amazon from the same supplier) and then dunk it, roll it, or spray it on my pine lumber. The ferrous sulfate darkens the wood and the iron oxide soaks in and gives it a permanent reddish stain so my white pine boards all look like aged Redwood. And, in my opinion, the best thing is that you have both protected the wood from mold and infestations but also the rust stain never (ever) lightens or has to get redone. Which is great if you've ever had to repaint or restain a large outdoor project. Let's face it, rust is rust, it stains concrete (which I also use it for) and it'll do the same thing for wood... permanently.Hope this was helpful

Kills moss
I will tell you that if you put 12.8 ounces of this stuff to 4 gallons of water you will kill the moss that seemingly takes over your lawn. The only thing is you have to apply it frequently to do the job. However it may be this is the cheapest and most effective way for me to do so. I will also use this stuff to keep noss from returning. It works 100% for me.

Moss killer? No. Moss TERMINATOR? YES!
I almost hate the write this review b/c I'd like to keep this to myself. This stuff is simply AWESOME at killing moss on the lawn. I've tried 4 other products that supposedly killed moss. NONE worked. This stuff killed the moss in 1 HOUR. I mixed one-half cup to 1 gallon of warm water in a garden sprayer. The more you spray the moss, the faster it dies. But even a light misting will kill the moss after a week or so. But a good dose kills in in about an hour. A few notes:#1. This stuff stinks. Smells like rust or blood (it IS iron after all). Didn't really bother me, but my wife was not happy about the smell in our kitchen where I filled the sprayer.#2. This WILL stain concrete, wood, pretty much everything it touches. I was careful along my concrete retaining wall so nothing really noticeable, but where I got a little carried away near the wooden edging of my garden it stained the wood.#3. This does NOT harm the grass. In fact it makes it a nice dark green.#4. Best to apply under these conditions: cloudy, cooler, not windy. I would not apply this on a hot sunny day b/c it will dry before it gets a chance to soak into the moss and kill it.#5. The moss will die, but it won't go anywhere. You need to rake it up and plant grass. I would also add lots of pelletized lime before planting grass so you can help prevent the moss from returning.

Good enough for the price
Decent enough, but definitely requires some purification before using in a lab experiment. Found bits of unreacted iron bits in the solution that had to be filtered out, and recrystallization requires solution to be acidic in order to get the pure green crystals. Lots of work.

Amazing result.
My lawn was struggling due to heat and lack of nutrients in soil, I ordered this product and in just two weeks my lawn is thriving again, that is just one application. I am very pleased to see the results.
