It's radioactive, you should know that much...however not dangerously so.
I suppose first and foremost you should know that this object is absolutely 100% radioactive. Is it dangerous? Nah probably not assuming you don't crush it up and inhale the particles. It's typical eastern quack medicine that purports to create negative ions, I suppose it might given that it emits ionizing radiation. The dose rate is about 0.36uS/Hr which is about 9~10 times my background radiation rate in my home office where I have some distance away a goodly number of radioactive items. So if you wear this and it's in contact with your flesh understand you're getting around 0.36uS/Hr exposure at that one point. For comparison a single dental x-ray will give a dose of around 0.2uS so this pendant is giving you about the equivalent of 2 dental x-rays every hour you wear it.Why is it radioactive? It's probably made of Monazite that's been powered and blended with a binder of some sort and pressed into this amulet shape. The radiation comes from Thorium 232 a primordial mineral, alpha emitter with a half life a hair over 14 billion years. The identification is made by finding the gamma emissions of Th-232's decay daughters. All radioactive isotopes terminate in Pb-208, lead. On the way there they become a great many things and in so doing leave fingerprints in the composition of the decay daughters.Top photo is the pendant, lower photo is some thoriated welding rods which contain 2% thorium oxide. The spectrums given left are pendant right thoriated welding rods. The latter are considerably hotter, tho hardly dangerous as long as you don't grind them up and breathe them in.Anyhow fun trinket if you're a collector of radioactive curiosities. Buyer beware however...there are also, "negative ion cards" which are also filled with Thorium Oxide. The Authenticity Card included with this pendant is not however radioactive just FYI.
