This is RG6U cable with black outer sheath, a solid steel copper coated core, Polyethylene foam dielectric with an aluminium foil and braid shield.Marked as ‘RG6U AL Coaxial Cable Foam 75ohm 23W33A’, this pretty much sums up its composition, there are also metre markings which is always handy if you don’t have a tape measure with you. As it has a solid core it isn’t too flexible but does bend, ideal for pinning to walls for fixed installations of satellite dishes and TV antennas. It has an outer diameter of around 7mm with PVC sheathing, a standard ‘F’ connector screws on tight and neatly.It always makes me laugh when I see ‘HD, Ultra HD and 4K reception’, it’s just coax, it doesn’t care what you pump down it, it has no resolution! Handy to have a roll of it though.

Purchased this as my satellite dish is some distance from my house so need something pretty resilient to run across my garden. Last one got cut with a chainsaw after tree fell on it so ( it survived the tree but not the saw)Easy to work with and splice the ends so hope it will last a few years. My first impressions are very positive.

This 100 metre reel of RG6 cable is reasonable value at £24 though it can be obtained for a bit less.Like most RG6 cable the core is copper-clad steel, which is much cheaper, rather than pure copper and that’s fine for signal transmission as such frequencies are carried on the outer surface of the core, so via copper. The control voltage sent from a satellite receiver to dish (LNB) is however more attenuated by copper-clad steel than by solid copper so on very long runs the voltage may not be sufficient for trouble-free operation. Could just possibly also be a problem for masthead amplifiers for terrestrial TV where the power comes up the cable.Apart from that technical point, unlikely to be a problem for the vast majority of people, it’s otherwise fine. The aluminium braiding is denser than on some cheap cable I’ve seen and the plasticised aluminium foil seems quite tough.I’ve not yet used it but will be replacing the main down lead from loft-mounted TV aerial to distribution amplifier at one address and installing a DAB aerial in the loft at my secondary address, after which I’ll still have a lot left. Always useful to have.

I ordered this as part of a mini project to use our satellite dish that had not been used for several years. I wanted to re-connect it to a different room than it was in before and wanted to use fresh cables.This was really easy to do using some spare bits that I had and I had enough cable to connect to both of the cables from the satellite dish to the box so it can record one or two (or watch one whilst recording another). The signal strength is perfect so I'm very happy and I still have about half of it left in case we decide to move it again or possibly use it to re-route our internet cable.Great quality and value so I'm very happy with this and recommend to others.
