Special K Protein Meal Bars, Chocolate Peanut Butter, 9.5 oz (6 Count)(Pack of 6)

Now that Amazon has fixed the pricing issue with these... I'm very picky when it comes to protein bars. Most protein bars use sugar alcohol to keep various things like calories down. The trouble with this is that it makes the bar taste like crap. Special K does NOT. They use a combination of High Fructose Corn Syrup and Sugar. Some may frown upon HFCS but I find it gives a much needed sweetness. I've dropped many pounds (25+) thanks to these bars. They taste almost (but not quite, not enough to spoil it) like a candy bar, they have a ton of nutrients, and they fill you for a couple hours...Yes a couple means 2. So plan your meals accordingly. I typically eat one of these for breakfast along with a V8 juice, another for a snack, a healthy lunch, and another for a snack after lunch followed by a healthy dinner.Note that I initially rated this item 1 out of 5 stars due to amazon overpricing the item by more than $3/box. If you ever are faced with paying more than $5.99/box (even from amazon), you are getting ripped off. The local grocery store has them for $5.99 for a 6 pack, and wal-mart is now carrying 12 packs for $10.98 along with the 6 packs for $5.98. You can also typically get these on sale if you look hard for $3.50 to $4.00/box every so often.

I bought these bars because I never eat breakfast. I hate eggs, don't like most cereals, etc. I know breakfast is important so I decided to try these. They taste okay, leave a gritty aftertaste. With these particular ones I can taste the chocolate but it's lacking in the peanut butter taste. I will definitely keep eating them though because they do work. I had one for breakfast two days in a row and did not find myself feeling hungry until it was lunch time. On the third day I decided to try a bowl of cereal (Cheerios to be exact) because it was convenient. An hour after I ate the cereal I felt as if I was starving. Thank goodness I had an apple with me because I devoured it but was still hungry! Obviously the cereal did not satisfy me the way the bars did. I will keep eating them and am curious about trying the protein shakes.

I love these bars! If you are on WW, they are only 2 points. They are much largers than the WW 2pt. bars and very filling. You could treat them as a snack or meal replacement. My local grocery is no longer carrying these bars as a result, I made my purchase through Amazon at a great price. I was paying a dollar or more for individual bars. The chocolate peanut is fabulous. Can easily curb your craving for a Snickers! I was also pleased with how fresh they were.

These were a good value when they cost $30 for six 6-packs (36 bars total) when I bought them on July 3, 2011. That came to $25.50 at subscribe and save prices. Now that they've raised the price, and it's not a good value. Walmart will sell you 6 6-packs (36 bars total) at for $27.40 and ship it to your home for free.

I really like these protein bars. I use to skip breakfast but now days I have meds to take in the morning. I eat one of these almost every morning.

Note, these are the MEAL bars.These are really great--curbs your appetite and packs in a lot of protein and energy between meals at just 180 calories! They keep you full so you don't crash/ feel starved and then binge on the first fast-food joint you see. They're great if you're on-the-go like I am; some days I'm running around doing errands for school or work, and I go hours without having a proper sit-down meal. I always keep one in my purse! They really taste great, and the shipment I received from Amazon was in great condition. Plus, they're $8 for a box of 6 at Ralphs', so it was much cheaper to order them in bulk.

I purchased these to enjoy for breakfast or lunch on days when I'm really in a rush. So far, they've definitely filled that spot. I've found that if I eat one for breakfast, I am hungry by lunchtime, but not overly so. If I eat one for lunch at around 1pm, I am generally very hungry after 5pm.They are a good size, not overly chocolaty, and the peanut butter isn't overpowering at all, it's almost subtle. The bsr doesn't stick to your mouth, it's easy to eat, and it has a nice texture, not too hard. Plus the slight crunchiness from the rice parts kind of reminds me a bit of a candy bar.

The first shipment was just as ordered. This last shipment was not the same....the bars went from 1.59 ounce to 0.9 ounce. The bar says chocolate peanut - not chocolate peanut butter. The picture looks the same on the packages. I am very disappointed in this shipment. We opened all the boxes before we realized the difference, so we couldn't send them back.
