I got this for my aging mother as she loves to read.Let’s just say I’ve gotten her many gifts in the past( expensive and inexpensive) but I couldn’t see her as happy as when she used these lights. Holds its charge up pretty good too

A lot of other booklights in this price range have 3 levels of brightness. One of the things that I really appreciate about this one is that it has 10. Like most of the other booklights out there now, it also lets you switch between three different color temperatures as well, which can be nice depending on the time of day and your mood/need.Another thing that I like about this booklight is the shape. The most common design for book lights has a strip of LED's that extend from the back of the book toward you. That can create dark spots towards either side of the book. Unlike those other lights, this one is shaped to go across the width of the open book, spreading its light more evenly across the both pages. Reflecting back, it's an obvious design, and it's not clear why more lights don't do this.The design of the clip is great. At the bottom of the clip is a smaller hinged grip which allows it to get a better handle on every book, regardless of their shape/size. A piece of advice here -- at first I found that the light didn't grip well to the cover/pages and was sliding around…it turns out that there are thin plastic covers on the "sticky" parts of the clip (both on the back of the battery compartment and on the smaller hinged part). If you remove those thin plastic covers, all of a sudden it gets much grippier.The only odd thing about this (and why I'm deducting a star) is the charging. It's awesome (and unusual) that this came with both a cable (USB-A -> USB-C) as well as a power brick. It's odd though that this only seems to charge with the cable and power brick that it came with. I tried charging it with multiple other cables and chargers at first, and nothing happened. I actually thought that it was defective and was going to try and send it back. Then I tried with the included charger and cable and it worked fine. I was under the impression that with the USB-C standard, all devices should be chargeable interchangeably with any cable/power brick, and simply adjust how much power they try to draw. This light is probably out-of-spec for USB-C, but it's also quite cheap…so…there's that. Ultimately, this means that you're going to need to keep around this specific charger and cable in order to charge this light -- don't lose them (or forget them when traveling).

I admit I thought this was cheesy when my hubby recommended, but this light is great! It is the perfect book light and can be used for many things. The long battery life is a HUGE plus!
