Q: How is this paper with active burnishing and solvant use with color pencils?

I use this paper not only for watercolor, but also with Prismacolor pencils. It stands up very well for laying down many layers of wax,and burnishing. I use mineral oil as a solvent and have had no problems. I love this paper for many uses.

Q: Are these pure white or more of an ivory?

The product is much closer to a "pure white" than to an ivory. I can see there is some visual shifting in most of the pictures, including the one I sent with my review. However, the paper has none of the slight yellow caste that usually accompanies "ivory" colored products. Therefore, consider it a "pure white." Also, the cost to try it is very reasonable. Q: Since this is hot press does it mean its smoother?

It is smoother than cold pressed. This brand still has a light texture on one side. Other hot pressed paper may say satin smooth and it has no texture.
