Great fix for a common problem; easy to install but not totally idiot-proof.
Contains parts and tools to fix two sets of joycons (two left, two right), so I've performed this operation four times, and here are my thoughts:Installed properly, these do exactly what they're supposed to and work great. They make a really solid connection and fixed the problem I had with the stock plastic ones. 3 out of 4 of my joycons were loose, two just from normal wear and one from a drop. From what I've heard, these may still chip from a drop, but they're not going to wear out from normal use. It doesn't seem like they'll pose a serious risk of damaging the system, from what I've seen, but of course mod at your own risk. The operation itself is pretty easy, but of course you can mess up if you're not careful. I would say this a beginner to intermediate mod, but here's what to look out for:First, there are no instructions included. It is not difficult or complicated, but I definitely recommend watching someone do it on youtube first. This involves removing six screws per Joycon, and they're very tiny and can be lost. Losing one screw is probably not going to mess you up that bad, and you can buy replacements for the main ones, but be careful. The latch itself is spring-loaded, so you need to be very careful removing it or you could see a tiny spring go flying and get lost forever. This is easily avoided if you know about it, but don't wing it and lose that spring.Another easy thing to mess up is detaching the ribbon cables that connect the front and back of the joycons. These can be carefully re-inserted (the included tweezers help), so it's fixable, but it's a little tricky. This happened on two of the four I did the operation on, but both worked fine once I reconnected them. But it was a little bit of a pain in the ass.On one joycon I tightened the screw for the plate that holds the latch in place too tight, which made it stick a bit. Once I loosened it, it behaved normally. So don't feel like you have to drive these screws in super tight. That's it, really. If you're comfortable taking things apart, these latches work perfectly, and include everything you need except instructions. I'm very happy with the end result, they feel great. This fixes a super common problem with Switch joycons very nicely, and if I get more in the future I will definitely do this again.A few reviews hear mention needing to modify or file things down; This was not my experience at all, but it's possible the seller may be using multiple suppliers with slight differences. If it doesn't fit, ask for a replacement, as my set fit and worked perfectly.

For original Nintendo
Please note these latches working only with original Nintendo JoyCons. I made replacement on original and other company Joycons. It fixed a problem when Joycons get easily disconnected from the switch but didn't do anything for another company joycons. Since it works with original product I recommend this product for original Nintendo because disconnecting joycons is really annoying.I tested on switch, joycons and charging station. It works grate.

One latch in a set has a defect
bought this in 2021 for my original acnh joycons, it came with two sets which is great if you have extra joycons. they hold up amazing and are easy to change out. the only problem now is that i have another pair of joycons that need to be switched as the original locks are worn down and the set i kept has a defect. theres a hole where the spring goes except it wasnt cut out on one latch. Thats the only reason i removed a star, if you want both sets its a bit of a problem.

Worked. Looks like they will last a lot longer being that they are metal.

My Nintendo Switch feels new again!!
Backstory (how many can relate?):I bought my Switch a month after it came out in 2017, I think it was April (remember how excruciatingly difficult it was to find them?), and after installing these little metal latches, my Switch feels like new again! I have read a lot of reviews about how most people, especially children, are not careful when sliding the controllers off or on, and this will wear out the plastic latches. Well, that is not necessarily the only reason. I am a collector and I take a lot of care when handling things., and I almost always played the Switch while docked. Unfortunately, no matter how carefully I slid off the Joy cons -controllers (on occasion) the Right one started coming off without pushing in the release button and this was about 7 months after purchasing the Switch, then another maybe 6 months, the Left controller was sliding off. At first it didn't really bother me much and since not too many people owned a Switch back then, I never found any videos, blogs, etc, online about this issue...now they are everywhere! So I was playing Dr. Mario when I got an error message that one of my controllers was not attached. After 5 times sliding it on and off my Switch finally acknowledged the blasted controller, but by then, I had lost the stage in Dr. Mario! I was FED UP (and too lazy to send it in to Nintendo for repairs lol)!!!Attaching the METAL latches:I gave the installation 3 stars because of the difficulty in handling the tiny screws and parts. There are a lot of videos to installing these latches (apparently some are even labeled "L", or "R" but not these) so installation is pretty straight forward. This tool kit comes with the needed screw drivers and a very sharp tweezer. Make sure that you do one controller at a time, and notice, particularly, the way the original plastic latch is facing. And as other reviewers mention, be extra CAREFUL with the tiny spring! I had no problems with the springs, so, thank you to all the previous reviews!! I would also suggest that you install these things in a well lit area and keep some small containers handy (or something) to put the screws in while doing this.Final thoughts:As I stated above, my Switch feels like new again!! I no longer have to worry about the controllers sliding off because I have to push the release buttons again. Keep this in mind though, if you buy new Joy cons, the plastic latches will wear down. I have not inquired about this with Nintendo and I don't know if the newer model Switches have remedied this, or if Nintendo even cares, but, these latches work! I will try update this review after a few months to see if there are any changes.
