back In the early 70's, there were feemail country artists including Tammy Wynette, Lynn And Liz Anderson, Donna Fargo, Diana Trask (from Australia) and now, this diva, who had a top 10 hit with the Kris Kristoferson number "Help Me Make It Through the Night". it has been covered by artists and was also recorded by Kris and Kris's version is the better of the lot. also represented on this Tammy Wynette sound- alike CD include "the Toast of 45", "For the Kids", and my personal fave "He's Everywhere". it's a song about having trouble getting over someone you've lost. when my Amazon account wouldn't display my orders, if Amazon were my lover, I would have been able to relate to this song. this CD also includes nice caovers of "My Window Faces the South" and "The Letter", a 1960's hit by the Box Tops. if you have any CD's by the feemail stars I mentioned, this CD would go nicely with those artist's CD's. the sound quality is okay. the volume is a little bit too quiet for my liking. I've heard that lowder isn't always better, but I think this CD needs a tiny volume adjustment. same goes for some of the Legendary Masters Series and a CD by Don Fardon "Indian Reservation: the Best of Don Fardon".

I only recently discovered ,Sammi Smith. Personally, I think she blends in as being among one of the best female country singers of all time. Just love her voice. I enjoy listening to her. Gotta love, Help Me Make it Through The Night, a Kris Kristopherson written song.

This disc is so amazing and is one I truly and highly recommend for those of whom remember Sammi Smith. I am young and only remember Sammi as she was one of my first ever owned records at age 6. Her voice and songs flood my mind as I play the disc and sing along. For those whom do not know her music, this is the one to buy. It has one of her #1 hits called Help Me Make It Through The Night and others. She is a true Country singer with her story enclosed with this disc of how she got started. Buy this and you will not be disappointed.

This is something that I looked for many times, but never found a copy of it until a friend in New Jersey sent me a copy , but by mistake sent the jacket and forgot the cd. He told me where he got it from so I ordered it through Amazon.com and now have the new cover and cd. The memories are of my true love of my partner and this is the song we called ours when we met 40 years ago and we are still together today. What a feeling to dance to that song today.

Sammi Smith is a favorite artist. Her voice is smooth and her songs speak to me.

This is an update on how I REALLY enjoy this CD: I've played this cd OVER and OVER again, and I must tell you, it just sounds better and better each time I play it!!!!!!!! Enthalten die frühen Erfolge bei Mega; Varese hat bei der Bearbeitung des Klanges erstaunlich saubere Arbeit geliefert.

Lorsque l'on achète un Best Of sans être contrarié l'on constate toujours quelques titres qui ne sont pas à la hauteur de ses espérances.Hé bien pour celui-ci rien de tel, il dure 50 minutes et l'on voudrait qu'il ne s'arrête jamais. Peu connue en France Sammi Smith mérite tous les éloges et ses enregistrements, tant sur le plan vocal qu'instrumental, vous laisse parfois rêveur de ce qui atteint quasiment la perfection. Et puis il faut le dire il y a une chanson étalon de la country " Long Black Veil " de Danny Dill et Marijohn Wilkin, pour en avoir une vingtaine versions différentes, celle de Sammi Smith dépasse toutes les autres, y compris celle de " The Band " que j'admire depuis sa parution il y maintenant si longtempsAchetez ce disque sans réfléchir une seconde, vous n'avez plus qu'à attendre cette merveille pour votre discothèque qui sera réjouie d'accueillir une telle artiste.
