Does this choke the ps5? Isn't like someone putting a fan on your face so you can breath better?

No. This thing is great. Solved all my over heating option. If the ps5 gets to hot. It has 3 fan speed that will change according to the temp. Will even tell you the temp it's reading. Mine never goes above 102.f°

Can this replace the original fan? Say if I remove it? Or does it need the PS5 fan to work?

It needs it to work, if your PS5 needs a fan get a new one of those ding dong

Where ior how does this unit detect the temperature? Is it raw data from usb? Or is it a built in thermostat?

Built in thermo has a gauge right in the side. Works awesome keep the ps cool never has to go above 1st setting honestly. Only thing I noticed is when it’s on automatic it contactable cools the od and shuts in and off to regulate. So just leave on blue settin and stays at prime operating temp!

Does it void the warranty from sony?

No. There are no seals on the panels. They literally pull and slide off of the console. Here’s an better question: Do you really think Sony will replace your console for overheating? They’ll use some scapegoat like “excessively operating the system”. It’s better to be safe than sorry. You are not voiding any contract because you are not changing the internal hardware. The fan in the cooling panel lines up directly with the fan in the console, meaning a cooler running system. Which means you can play as long as you want and your system will not over heat. That also means that the life of your console will be extended. I have this panel on my own personal PS5, connected into a usb port separate from the console, so it is constantly tracking the system’s temperature. I also have it sitting on a cooling stand. My system is covered, all the way around.
