These have been a great hit with their five-year-old owner. The cover illustrations with their Disney-style bobble-headed heroines didn't fill me with confidence that these would be big on substance, but they're actually more engaging than I gave them credit for: the characters are differentiated enough to have distinct voices (and quietly full of girl power, solving problems, tackling villains and figuring out clues), the adventures are exciting, and the chapter lengths perfect for an early reader.
