Form, Function, and Ease - Great for travel and those who appreciate AV quality
The Opal Tadpole has surpassed my expectations, fitting seamlessly into my minimalist lifestyle with its small, portable, and aesthetically pleasing design. As a frequent traveler, its convenience shines whether I'm making a quick call from an airport lounge, the little nook at my favorite coffee shop, or my desk. The standout feature, undoubtedly, is the video quality, a crucial aspect for someone like me with a discerning eye for the nuances of video and audio due to my background as a once aspiring actor (welp). The Tadpole's picture quality compared to built-in laptop cameras has made me appreciate its value, especially in the era of remote work. The quality between the Tadpole and built-in cameras is night and day. The clarity, sharpness, and vividness of the footage make virtual interactions feel as close to in-person as possible. In hindsight, my only regret is not gifting Tadpoles to all my regular Zoom/Teams contacts. It's a camera that offers great value, particularly friendly for beginners, thanks to its clear footage and user-friendly design.

Great camera but lacks features
This has great picture and build quality but it lacks features. There is no software support on windows and You cannot adjust picture quality , autofocus and other things.. Due to narrow angle my face appeared bigger and showing to much details . Skin tone was yellowish , I preferred Logitech BRIO over this..

Stupid cord management ball ruins the whole thing
There is a plastic “ball” on the cable for cord management. This is a nice add on, unfortunately it makes the cable kinked and not long enough to reach the top of my monitor. There’s no good way to remove this “ball”.Camera and microphone quality are decent. Linked right up with my Mac so easy to use. Performs decent. Only problem is this stupid ball which has made me unable to mount the camera at the top of my monitor. Also, the cable length is minimal. This should be for laptops only. However, vast majority of laptops already have a webcam. The developers missed the ball on this one!

Great With Few Flaws, Mainly just a wishlist for a V2
Let me just say that this webcam is very small, smaller than you might expect. For how small this webcam is it packs a heavy punch with pretty good video quality and excellent performance. The only reason why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is more so because of my personal wishlist for this item. I wish they made a V2 that was more compatible with desktop monitors, especially with a detachable USB-C cable for better compatibility for desktops and perhaps a clip or hook mechanism to mount it on the top of the monitor. I really hope the Opal team sees this review and takes my review to heart. I know my requests are kind of niche, however, the build quality and aesthetic of this webcam comes across as being very high quality and reminds me a great deal of an Apple product which is just love. The entirety of the webcam could be the exact same in a V2 besides the things I mentioned that could make it better and it would probably be the most desired webcam on the market. Even the silicone lens cover is such a nice touch and just brings the whole package together. I did have to return it due to it not being quite the right fit for me, but if Opal could make a V2 with a detachable cable and maybe a monitor mounting option that would just be the total package for me. They could just make it with a detachable cable and that would be enough for me to buy one, the monitor mounting option isn’t even a necessity, I was able to just hang the webcam over the bezel of my monitor and use the cable as weight to make it almost act like a grappling hook, the webcam being the hook part, that is. Overall a great product that could use a few tweaks in a V2 to become a god-tier product. If the Opal team happens upon this review please take my suggestions to heart and I hope my suggestions find you well.

terrible cable
Video quality is great however the cord is so short and the dumb cord organizer can't be removed making the cord even shorter. It barely makes it to the middle of my MacBook. Very overpriced for such a poorly designed cable.

Perfect Laptop camera
I have been struggling with poor video and audio quality making tutorials for work. Despite having all of the bells and whistles to record with, the quality was still lacking and it all felt so complicated. Enter the Tadpole. My process for recording is now streamlined and my video is high quality and allows me to create content I can be proud of.Using the tadpole was super simple, simply plug and go. Simple to adjust the angle and I really appreciate the compact size that makes it perfect for transporting back and forth to the office. The cable isn’t very long, which I like, but you may want to mindful of if you have an extra large laptop screen or are attempting to configure it for a use it isn’t originally intended for. It would not work for a desktop screen. The other feature I love and didn’t know I needed is the magnetic lense cover. No more anxiety of whether or not I actually left my zoom video on and am being watched 😂I haven’t yet used Opal Composer, but intend to try it when I switch my work laptop over to a Mac and am looking forward to it.

Only average quality with no controls and a short cable
Online meetings have been the norm for years now, so having a camera with great quality has been very valuable to me. I've tried a number of cameras but keep coming back to my trusty Logitech Brio. I had high hopes for the Tadpole that it would be my new companion.I do like the smaller size, but the cable is on the short side. I can understand it might be desirable for it to be short, but for the price tag, it could have included an extension cable (for those who want to use one) as well as a USB-C-to-USB-A adapter. However, I could have overlooked that if the video quality was there; I was disappointed. It seemed to do poorly in low lighting, wasn't particularly sharper than the Brio, and worst of all had no controls like being able to zoom.
