Energising and Balancing
Maca root is renowned for its health benefits, especially in boosting energy and balancing hormone levels, and these capsules have certainly lived up to the hype.Since starting on these capsules, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my daily energy levels. Maca is often touted for its ability to enhance stamina and reduce fatigue, and I can attest to its effectiveness. The energy it provides feels natural and sustained, unlike the short spikes from caffeine. As someone interested in natural health solutions, I am aware of Maca’s reputation for supporting hormonal balance. While it’s hard to measure this directly, I feel more balanced and have noticed improvements in mood and overall well-being, which I attribute to better hormonal health.Maca is also well-known for its benefits to libido and sexual and reproductive health. While this isn’t my primary reason for taking the supplement, it’s a welcome additional benefit that complements its overall health-promoting properties. These capsules are 100% vegan, which is essential to me. It’s reassuring to know I can enjoy the benefits of maca root without compromising my dietary preferences.

Are these really black maca? Product description says so, bottle doesn't mention it.
I got these capsules for my husband. He likes to take either maca root tablets, or capsules, every day. He says they help him to think more clearly, as well as making him feel like he has a bit more energy. The maca tablets he’s currently taking contain bulking agents and fillers. I hadn't realised until after they arrived, so having noticed this, I don't really like the thought of him taking those ones. This particular brand looks very appealing, because apart from the vegan friendly capsule shell, there are no other ingredients, other than the maca root extract. However, it's not that easy to understand what you're actually getting with these ones. The product description says the capsules contain black maca root extract, but this is not mentioned anywhere on the product bottle. Black maca root is much rarer that the common yellow variety usually found in supplements, and is generally regarded to be much more potent. In much the same way that dark shades of fruit and vegetables contain higher levels of antioxidants, the same applies to black maca.Surely if these capsules really did contain the rarer black variety of maca, it would be more prominently featured, or at the very least be mentioned on the product bottle? There is a coloured picture of some maca root and powder on the front of the bottle, but it's not the black variety in that picture. You can't tell by the colour of the capsules themselves, as black maca only has a black outer skin. When powdered, it doesn't look that dissimilar to yellow or red maca, and I don’t currently have any yellow maca powder in the house to be able to do a side by side comparison. The other thing with these capsules is that the company is called Biovitalia Organics, but there is no mention that the product inside the capsules has been organically produced. The capsules are described as being extra strength. The dosage is one capsule twice per day, not two together. This would preferably be taken spaced out evenly, so one with breakfast and one with your evening meal. Each single capsule contains the equivalent of 500mg of maca root, so taking two capsules per day gives you a combined 1000mg of active ingredient. I don't see how this can be described as extra strength, as the standard dosage for maca is 1500mg - 3500mg, with a high strength dosage being around 4000mg - 5000mg per day. These capsules are produced in India, and have a clearly displayed batch number, date of manufacture, and expiry date. If they really do contain black maca, this would be reflected in the higher price. However, as this remains unclear, these capsules appear to be more expensive than many other brands of maca capsules, and the strength of the active ingredient does not appear to be strong enough. Therefore, I’m not going to say I would particularly recommend these ones at this moment in time. The manufacturer needs to make the labelling much more accurate and obvious if they want to charge such high prices.
