Makita LS0816F/2 240V 216mm Slide Compound Saw

Bought this to replace an aging Elektra Beckum saw which cost over £400 30 years ago. Couldn’t be more pleased with it. Cost half the price and weighs a substantial 8 kilos less. Was a little concerned that it was only 1200 watts as opposed the Elektra Beckum’s 1600, but it slices through everything without problem. Build quality is everything you’d expect from Makita.

Great saw for the price. Very happy with the width of cut and the slide mechanism is smooth. The light that shines a line on the cutting point is very useful. Saw is accurate enough for type of work I’m using it for so can’t speak to high end work. Easy enough to transport

makita quality as expected

Very happy with this purchase. Much better than my old one. Motor noise slightly quieter than the predecessor. Smooth action and all checked out as accurate. Quite big but not too heavy. Electrical cord 'store away' badly designed as the plug has nothing to hook onto of which means the cord starts to unravel. Not too much of a big deal but when the manufacturer uses the cord storage as a selling point....you kind of expect a genius solution! Would def recommend this saw.

This a a great product and an ideal DIY tool.

… out of the box the guide extension is right in front of the blade. So you can guess what happened. A small red sticker alerting to this, on the underside is not ideal. Yes, I should have checked. But it makes no sense for it to be there in the first place. Box is huge so could have been left off.

Turned up on time and a lot of kit for the money - very happy

Have been wanting one for a very long time , have a chop saw which is brilliant but this will go another level
