Is ginger as healthy for us to eat as turmeric?
Biologists place both ginger and turmeric under Order Zingiberales, Family Zingiberaceae. These 2 plants manufacture very similar phytochemicals. The scientific studies involving turmeric (Curcuma longa) outnumber the scientific studies involving ginger (Zingiber officinale) by better than tenfold. The purported medicinal uses of turmeric greatly outnumber the purported medicinal uses of ginger. The supermarkets only sell ginger because ginger roots are somewhat more delicious and somewhat more attractive than turmeric roots.Ginger works much better than turmeric for reducing the severity of flatulence.Try this test: Eat a certain large quantity of legumes such as whole soybeans, whole green peas, whole chickpeas (garbanzo beans), whole black beans, whole navy beans, whole kidney beans, whole pinto beans, whole lima beans, whole great northern beans, whole lentils, or any other whole starchy legume. Measure the amount of flatulence caused when ginger was not consumed together with the beans. Then retry the same experiment with plenty of ginger, say, at least 10 capsules. The severity of flatulence should be substantially less when lots of ginger was added to the beans.Turmeric works slightly better than ginger for (1)preventing and treating metabolic syndrome (causing weight loss, preventing and treating diabetes and insulin resistance, improving cholesterol and triglyceride numbers, lowering high blood pressure, and reducing markers of inflammation),(2)protecting the inner lining of the entire human digestive tract from free radicals, and (3)partly blocking the formation of cancer-causing nitrosamines in the human mouth, throat, esophagus, and stomach. Turmeric has been shown to be effective at partly blocking nitrosation - the formation of reactive nitrogen species (RNS) such as nitrosamines.Turmeric capsules are easier to chew in our mouth than ginger capsules. In fact, many brands of turmeric capsules are moderately delicious. All turmeric products come from India. This product, Nature's Way Ginger Root, is of such high quality that if chewed in our mouth, the sting from the beneficial phytochemicals in the ginger may be too potent for most people to tolerate and may cause most of us to cough. It's perfectly OK to swallow both ginger capsules and turmeric capsules at the same time. In humans, turmeric is absorbed very poorly so it's unlikely that turmeric can protect where our blood goes. Experiments with animals, however, show turmeric being absorbed very well and delivering spectacular health benefits.DISADVANTAGE OF GINGER: Ginger is always higher in the cancer-causing mycotoxin, ochratoxin A, than any other plant. Strangely enough, eating Equal (aspartame) at the same time as eating ginger will almost completely block the cancer-causing effect of ochratoxin A in ginger and coffee. People trying to lose weight and people trying to reduce flatulence should add 2 packets of Equal (aspartame) to their "ginger tea," which can be made by pouring boiling hot water over 2 capsules of ginger to make 1 pint (2 cups) of ginger tea. Splenda (sucralose) is completely harmless but will not block ochratoxin A. Equal (aspartame) will block ochratoxin A extremely well but will not block any other mycotoxin.Other mycotoxins that have greatly harmed humans include:aflatoxins, fumonisins, other ochratoxins, zearalenone, patulin, citrinin, viomellein, sterigmatocystin, A. fumigatus gliotoxin, cyclochlorotine, luteoskyrin and rugulosin, P. jirovecii, C. immitis and C. posadasii, B. dermatitidis, C. gattii VGIIc, phomopsins, tremorgens (penitrems and roquefortines), ergot alkaloids (clavines, ergopeptines, and lysergic acid amides), type A trichothecenes (T-2 toxin, HT-2 toxin, Stachybotrys satratoxins, and diacetoxyscirpenol), and type B trichothecenes (nivalenol, deoxynivalenol, 3-acetyldeoxynivalenol, and 15-acetyldeoxynivalenol).Many other mycotoxins, including slaframine, moniliformin, ipomeanol, sporidesmin [facial eczema], and Neotyphodium fungal endosymbiont toxins, will only afflict plant-eating farm animals.

No more massive heavy periods!
Something so simple. 4 of the 550mg ginger caps every 12 hours during the first 2 or 3 days of a heavy period... I'm talking clots the size of my hand all day long... bled so much I became anemic type bleeding.. cramps so painful I criedIf you've ever been rushed to th ER for a massive bleed out due to menstruation youve likely been given high dose provera (progesterone) and 800mg ibuprofen to slow the bleeding.I had a HORRIBLE reaction to the Provera. It was 60mg a day for just 3 days ((they wanted me to take 60mg for 5-7 days straight)) ... I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I still think they got the dosage wrongOn the morning of day 3 I had stabbing pains in my heart. I was WIDE AWAKE when i should've been knocked out. Jittery, panic attacks, hand tremble, shortness of breath... THE WORKS!Provera was the only thing I was taking.I was rushed out of the ER so fast they didn't even talk to me about the Ibuprofen 800mg recommendation... i just read it on the prescription paper on the way homeI thought "how weird bc I'm bleeding out and ibuprofen is a blood thinner.."I thought they made a mistake with the high dose of Provera.. so maybe they made a mistake with the ibuprofen...I looked into it before taking it. Turns out at least THAT was correct800mg of ibuprofen blocks the effects of what causes the contracting of the uterine lining thus causing the massive bleeds... its called prostaglandins.30 minutes after taking 800mg ibuprofen the massive clots stopped entirely... as if I barely even started a period at all.My amazement was VERY short lived bc that amount of ibuprofen gave me terrible stomach pains so bad I couldn't sleep I just rocked back n forth in pain for a couple of hours.I remembered that I had researched blocking prostaglandins a few weeks back due to pain in my gums from an infection.Ginger was the key.Ginger has been proven as effective as Ibuprofen in MANY applications but dont take my word for it.. google it.. Ask ur doctor12 hrs had worn off from when I first took the initial 800mg ibuprofen..I began to bleed a little heavy again..So I decided to take 4 caps of the 550mg ginger instead.45 mins later... back to just spotting again.Ginger not only works just as well as 800mg ibuprofen...It doesnt put you at high risk of stroke and heart attack like ibuprofen does ((it's on its side effects in black and white on WebMd))And it soothes my stomach instead of cutting it up.Provera also puts you at high risk for heart attack and stroke so I had a double whammy of two things that could've given me a heart attack.I've struggled with heavy menses for 10 years and to think ginger could help this much... I mean I would've called bs if someone told me this. But it helps me tremendously.I hope this helps someone! Also try to ween off of it bc it is still a blood thinner ... by the 3rd day by only taking 3 every 12 hrs. Then eventually 2 caps every 12 hours to help maintain every day

Mixed Results
I'm not entirely sure, but I think this ginger supplement might be causing some digestive upset. It does seem to help with nausea, but I'm hesitant to keep using it due to the potential side effects. It might work better for others.
