Perfectly Balanced LIttle Hammer
I teach a class in practical math for high school students who have learning disabilities. What has this to do with the Ball Pein Jeweler's Hammer, you rightly ask. Well, we are studying geometry and making shapes out of balsa wood. Generally, I like my students to know how to make the parts of their projects fit perfectly and to join them with dowels or joints, but occasionally, we need to use wire brads. A heavy regular hammer would not be appropriate for this job, so I opted for this jeweler's hammer, and it turned out to be a great choice. It can't "over-hit" the wire brads, or smash into the balsa wood and smash it. It's also good because my students have diminished strength in their hands and a regular hammer would be too heavy and unwieldy for them. This hammer has forced them to develop some fine motor skills to hold it correctly, but it's been worth it because of the extra skill they learn. It's perfect for the job, and it helps our projects to be finished just right. Once the wire brad is in place, we use another wire brad and this hammer to counter-sink the first one, and then cover it over with plastic wood, so the nails don't show. This has also taken some learning, the counter-sinking, and my students don't end up hitting their hands with regular hammers that would really hurt them. It may not be what you'd buy this for, but this is a perfectly well-balanced little hammer that even the physically challenged can get to master. It's a beautiful instrument, no matter what use it is for which you are purchasing it.

Not the typical use for product.
I have been on a motorcycle for 40 + years and purchased alot of helmets, purchased this to shape ever so slightly the Styrofoam mainly in the forehead area for that perfect fit.

Head came off...
The hammer head is poorly attached to the handle. It was loose before I used it once and I was able to pull the head off with my hands. It's cheap for a reason.

Small hammer for small jobs.
I needed a 4 oz ball peen hammer for peeking over 1/16 inch brass rods when repairing straight razors. I found not find one at a local store so I bought it from amazon. The hammer came quickly and was NIB, and it does what I need it to do.The head is rough on the flat side, and the ball end is not perfectly round, there are minor flats on the ball. Needless to say it does not effect the performance, and I ground and polished the flat end to be true. The head is firmly sequred to the handle but the finish is sub par.Again these are minor details and the price reflects what I ordered and received, a functional hammer for small detail work for peeking over brass rod on straight razor scales.

Pretty crude but works as intended
Workmanship just fair . Handle rather crude and mishapened but metal finish is ok . No makers mark at all . I guess ok for the price .
