Fitted in toilet no space to fit 100mm vent this did the job

Followed YouTube videos for the best location to install, a very easy solution to noisy drainage from sinks etc.Fitted three of these upstairs ... bath, wash basin and ensuite wash basin .... completely cured the gurgling and syphoning from the shallow trap on the shower and all water now drains quickly and quietly. Feels like good quality but time will tell.

After changing our drain layout during a building extension the pressures in the drains changed and the water in the shower trap kept being syphoned our which allowed the sewer gases to enter our bathroom leaving us with that horrible sewage smell.After investigation it was found that this occurred when the bathroom basin was being emptied .The shower and bathroom basin drains are both linked into the same pipe that went into the soil stack outside.To cure this problem I installed the McAlpine VP2W Ventapipe Air admittance valve by teeing into the drain under the bathroom sink .This air admittance valve was fitted just about level with the basin overflow although I have read that this is nor necessary .This now lets air into the basin drain pipe when the basin is being emptied and the shower trap remains full because it is no longer syphoned out to allow the basin to drain. The smell and gurgling is no longer a problem.Please to say that the McAlpine Ventapipe was easy to fit and did exactly what it was bought to do.

Works as advertised. Needed to vent my washer drain after the U trap to prevent syphoning water from the trap. Works a treat.
