A great tool with a fast chain speed
A great tool to use where a large chainsaw is to awkward to use, on initial use keep a close look at the chain tension as a new chain stretches which is normal, and keep the cut close to the main body as possible

What can I say
In 1997 Shania Twain wrote “That Don’t Impress Me Much” a song written solely about me🤣🤣 This Makita pruning saw on the other hand does, massively👍 I’ve used many chainsaws apart of my work, infact some of the most powerful ones, but this bit of kit is brilliant. I originally bought one of the £50 ones that works with makita batteries, they kept falling off and it literally packed up 15 mins in to cutting 2 inch branches. I thought “stop being tight and by a proper one” although 3 times the price it’s worth every penny. Buy cheap = Buy twice has never been so true. This is the first product I’ve even been bothered to write a review on…..that’s how good it is👍 Buy with confidence that if it pleases me, it’ll please most people 🤣🤣

Good piece of kit
After looking at others and comparing i settled for the Makita as i already have a supply of battery's and the fact it had automatic oiler i inserted a Battery and it went to work straight out of the box after adding oil. excellent.

Great Quality tool
Suprisingly capable tool. Cuts full length of bar. Great for pruning tree branches upto 6 inches in diameter. Quite expensive in comparison to Stihl unit but, I already have Makita batteries and charger.

Brilliant!
I detest petrol chainsaws as they are so dangerous. This is the perfect alternative and makes tree and shrub lopping time a breeze. Very light and good battery life.

Nothing like as good as the pole saw
Really wanted to like this, and given a lot of thought before reviewing.I already own the split shaft pole saw, which is a great 5 star product. I bought this to use for more confined tasks, where I can't get the pole saw in, due to it's length. However, the handsaw has been a thoroughly frustrating, and potentially dangerous experience.Biggest issue is the chain coming off. It has happened every time I've used the saw. Putting the chain back on is a pain with gloves on. I had to refit the chain 3 times yesterday. Also, one of the times the chain came off, due to the design, it bit into the plastic body of the saw, and stuck there. Took a lot of pulling to get the chain free, so it could be refitted. The design of the handle is to blame for this, the pole saw can't fail like this.Secondly the chain oil leaks all the time. You have to lay down the saw in a specific way, otherwise it's all gone. During use, it drains the entire tank super quickly too.Lastly, and most dangerously, during one of the chain replacements, I noticed wood chippings had got stuck in the safety switch. That meant the safety was permanently engaged, and the blade starts just by touching the trigger. That's just not safe. Again points to bad design - the safety system shouldn't be failing in a dangerous way, just from the saw being used as intended. If it wasn't such a hassle, I'd be sending it back. I am thinking about lodging a complaint with Makita about the safety switch too - it's just dangerous.
