if you run Milwaukee; you can have a back-up on the cheap.
i paid close attention to the reviews, before i bought is. it's NOT a Milwaukee, but i doesn't cost like one either. but after 40+ years in the trades, a back-up drill that doesn't break the bank, is a must! I used to have a few Ryobi tolls for that purpose, until they got so good, i built a full brushless set. I've got a few Milwaukee clone 6ah batteries doing nothing, so i wanted to try this drill. yes, it does have a snap-in battery holder at the base of the handle; that's so they can mold the same part in blue, for the Makita version of this drill. It seems sturdy enough, and I figured I'd smear some epoxy in all the right places, to stiffen it up a bit, and make sure I use a holster, if I'm on a ladder, or platform, so I don't drop it from a considerable height. yes, the speed slider is very hard to change gears, and even with prolong lube sprayed on the plastic, it's still rough, but do-able. so, it may be the gears; i did try to shift while at low rpms, and it somewhat works better. I'd say, even for the low price, the one negative i found, was the low speed, feels too fast, so I have to pay attention to Philips screws, so as not to strip them. but it says 550 rpm, so maybe it's just all the torque? It has plenty! I drove a 4" x 1/4" lag screw into a 2" x 6" pressure-treated board, from the side, and then backed it out, and the drill wasn't even breathing hard, lol! As a back-up solution, on a job site, after being punched-in on the time clock; it passes my smell test....

Powerful and Versatile Drill Set with Excellent Features and Battery Life.
I purchased this generic Cordless Multifunction Drill for Milwaukee M18 Battery. After using it for several days, here’s what I found:**Pros:- Powerful Performance: The brushless motor provides strong torque and efficient power delivery, making it easy to drill through various materials, including wood, metal, and plastic.- Versatile Settings: The 20+3 torque settings offer precise control, which is particularly useful for different types of tasks. I can switch between drilling, driving, and hammer drill with ease.- Excellent Battery Life: Paired with my Milwaukee M18 2.0 AH battery, the drill lasts a long time on a single charge, allowing me to work on extended projects without frequent recharging.- Compact and Lightweight: Despite its power, the drill is compact and lightweight, reducing fatigue during prolonged use and allowing easy access to tight spaces.- Keyless Chuck: The 1/2 inch keyless chuck makes changing bits quick and effortless with a self locking feature to hold the bit in place while tightening it, enhancing overall efficiency.- Has a Hi/Low speed switch.- Has a two position mountable extra grip handle for heavy work.- Includes a Hammer Drill function. This is both rare and efficient.- Inexpensive price. Easy to replace if broken.**Cons:- No Included Battery: While the set is compatible with Milwaukee M18 batteries, it doesn’t come with one. It’s something to keep in mind if you don’t already own an M18 battery.- Battery Mount Quality: The Battery Mount is functional but feels a bit flimsy. A more robust mount would provide better protection from breakage if dropped. For around the home and farm use, this does not concern me so much, because I will not use it everyday.- The User Manual does not cover operating instructions very thoroughly. But if you have experience with this type of tool, you can figure it out easily.- The tool introductory attachments included with this item are not very useful.**Conclusion:- This Cordless Drill has exceeded my expectations in terms of power, versatility, and battery life. It’s a great addition to my shop, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient cordless multifunction drill for home and light professional use.

DeWalt Knock-Off
Described as new, yet delivery came in the product box with the flap untapped and no mailing wrapper. Yes, open. The product could have easily been taken out of the box by pulling the flap open. There is a reason for promotions and discounts for these knock off brands. They have been returned or sitting on the inventory shelf. This third-party DeWalt drill is one of them. This product was not “NEW” as marked. As I stated, it came un-taped with punctured box holes. However, since the price was only $36 with promotions, I wanted to try it out on a fence post for a fence lock installation. The drill is marked like the typical drill 1-20 with power hi and low. It started out fine, but when the drill bit hit hardened dried wood, it rotated in place. I tried changing the numbered dial and added more force without success. I eventually used my authentic DeWalt impact driver to finish the chore. While the parts came unused and unopened, it was obvious the previous purchaser did what I did, tried this drill out and returned it. I will request an exchange. This drill is not recommended. Easily rated “One Star.”

Pleasantly surprised
I work for myself, and my original makita drill had seen 6 years of abuse.. it finally died. Currently I mostly need the drill for mixing drywall mud and sometimes concrete for patching, so I had a hard time spending $180 for a replacement, knowing it would be destroyed again in no time. I found this listing that takes the makita batteries that i already have, and this drill was a third of the price. And a hammer drill at that. So far I have used it to mix concrete, drywall mud, paint, and the other day I used it to drill multiple holes in concrete. This thing is a beast! Its heavy and feels good in your hand. However, the one thing that concerns me about the construction of the drill is the bottom side of the grip where the battery attaches feels a little unstable, as it's a separate piece-- more than likely made that way to accommodate different bases for other models and batteries-- but I'm careful with it. I wouldnt necessarily trust dropping it from a tall ladder or scaffold. But for my needs, It's a strong drill, its got a brushless motor, and it suits my purposes perfectly. Best part is that if it does get destroyed from the materials I have to mix, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase the same one to replace it. So far, I've been using it for a little over a month nonstop, and it has been good to me.
