Costly - £31.35 for one month twice daily 500mg dose. Added cinnamon - √ Added rice flour X
I was attracted to the mention of added organic cinnamon. I would like to be taking cinnamon separately, but I find swallowing too many pills burdensome and am trying to limit them to 10 x twice daily, of which 2 are prescription meds. So any supplement that includes several valuable ingredients is welcome to me. The plus factor of the cinnamon overcame the negative of the dreaded rice flour given my very low carb / keto diet. Rice flour is the last ingredient listed, so I hope that means it is the smallest amount. Why do supplement sellers so often include sources of carbohydrate in their products? Is it to bulk their capsules out, to give the impression that we are getting more for our money? If so, they are mistaken. I often refrain from ordering a supplement when I see rice flour or similar in the list. And many potential buyers hate swallowing pills and would appreciate capsules kept as small as possible.500mg, as offered here, is by far the most usual strength of berberine pills. If you are new to this supplement, I strongly recommend taking just one capsule daily until you see how your digestive system reacts. As with Metformin, which seemingly works in a similar way and has some similar benefits, starting at a low dose may enable you eventually to tolerate more. I, and I imagine most berberine users, nowadays like to take 2 x 500mg caps. daily, with meals. At one time I attempted to up my dose to 3 x caps daily, but this caused extreme digestive upset, so after a pause I worked up again to first 1, then 2 x 500mg caps daily. I am watching my reactions carefully, and have now no ambition to take a higher dose. It is sometimes possible on Amazon to find lower strength berberine caps, and imo these would be a good option for a beginner.Scrolling down the ad., I read that this berberine supplement is "Enhanced with vitamin B1 and zinc", yet these do not appear in the list of ingredients. What is going on here?As a Vine Voice reviewer I received this supplement free of charge. I am happy to take it, especially as it is produced in the UK. Would I pay the current price of £31.35 for just one month at my usual dose of 2 caps. daily? No way!
